Kelburn Castle and Country Centre is a really special place. Dog and family friendly, it's set close to the coast and its enormous estate is full of treasures like a secret forest, secluded glens, indoor and outdoor play areas and a graffiti castle. Camping is a back to nature affair, or you might choose a light and airy bell tent or the cosy feel of a fully furnished yurt. Don't miss the horse riding centre on base, too.

About Kelburn Castle and Country Centre

Kelburn's historic estate includes a castle that dates back to the 13th century, stunning gardens and atmospheric moorland. Its unique makeover is thanks to a talented team of artists, but there are also acres of tempting grounds to be explored. Campers can relax on grass pitches or pop their tourer on a limited number of hardstandings, with parking available in a car park close to the pitch. Between the pitches, you'll find fire pits dotted around and picnic benches so that you can take in the view. If you're going glam, a bell tent is an easy breezy choice, where you can keep the car light and find your accommodation ready and pre-pitched for you. These hassle free options are unfurnished, so don't forget to bring your camping supplies. Groups are welcome to rent all five bell tents and stay together. Kelburn's three yurts are attractive, spacious and cosy thanks to a wood burning stove in each and a double bed with single roll mattresses to sleep four. Settle down around the fire pit outside to watch the stars come out. The site's pavilion is an important venue for private events, and during these limited dates you might hear the sound of buzzing festivities at night, whereas for most of the year it's a relaxed and back to nature experience. Dogs are welcome to stay with you camping, but sorry they cannot glamp in the bell tents or yurts.

Open from 1 March to 30 September

Yurt and bell tent check in is from 3pm until 6pm and check out by 11am.

The estate is home to its own fun and entertainment, acting as the setting for themed events throughout the year (and especially in the festive period), plus the fabulous Kelburn Garden Party - an iconic summer festival.

But you can also stay outside of event times and still have a packed list of things to do, from touring this unique castle to walks with the family in dazzling gardens.

The little ones can burn off their energy in the secret forest, stealing their way past swamps and tree lined pathways and there's a quiz at the end to see who's the best explorer. On rainy days, bring them inside to the play barn, give them a browse of the estate museum and much more.
