Things to do on site and in the Banchory area
Right from your doorstep you'll find tempting forestry trails and great walks that will lead you off into the hills. Don't forget your rod, as there's everything from a small trout loch, to great river fishing. Or if you're in need of more activity, there are excellent mountain biking and horse riding trails to uncover.
If you've got the youngsters with you and they've got ants in the pants, head down to Glen and the Den for some indoor activity and then capture their love of trains with Alford's narrow gauge railway.
The whole family can browse the ancient halls of historic castles at Crathes, Drum, Balmoral and Braemar. Or if you're over 18 and tempted to try the local flavours, it's down to the Royal Lochnagar Distillery or Fettercairn Distillery to discover more.
Grab the car and make for the coastline. Beaches at Stonehaven or Aberdeen are sure to please and there are fantastic swimming pools, ten-pin bowling, or an ice rink that will turn a rainy day into a chance to get everyone smiling.
