Brook Farm is a small, simple site in a remote location just ten minutes from the Peak District. The site is suitable for tents and tourers with spacious electric and non electric grass pitches. Pitch up and enjoy glorious views with friendly neighbouring cows in the field next door. Just a short five minute drive to the market town of Ashbourne and only 15 minutes from Alton Towers, you will also be in a prime location for days out!

We stayed for one night just as a stop over on a long drive, and found the campsite to be really lovely. Comfortable and flat pitches, a clean port aloo and friendly animals in the nearby fields. We had a peaceful night sleep and would definitely return!

This place is quite basic - no showers (as clearly stated in their blurb), portaloo, no washing facilities. Nice location though, a short drive to the pub. Pleasant views.

Lovely location, nice small site. Owner was friendly and was on site a few times through the day. Highlight was the baby cows and goats. Will be really good if they get proper toilets but only suggestion would be to move the toilets away from were people empty their caravan toilets as those smell disgusting and people think it's the portaloo. Mostly suitable for caravans with own facilities but would definitely visit again for a short stay.

Great place to stay. Some lovely local walks on your doorstep and a number a short drive away. Great facilities, clean and a good size so not too close to neighbours. Will be back. Thank you.

Brook farm is a lovely place to camp. Took the girls for their first camping experience here, and it was perfect. A friendly, relaxed atmosphere and close to some lovely places to see and eat. All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Solo female camper in a roof tent. Absolutely wonderful little site, back to basics camping with a personal touch. I booked 1 night (the Saturday) but on seeing the amazing weather we had coming, I texted Ann on Friday morning to ask if I could come a day early and stay both nights. She was quick to accommodate me and sent useful instructions on what to do / where to go on arrival. It's exactly what it says, limited facilities but well made up for by the great location for walks around Derbyshire, and who wouldn't want to wake up to the sounds of nature & wild open fields! The site is easy to find & access and within minutes walk of a pub and lovely little farm shop. I came home feeling relaxed and ready for another work week ahead. I had a great weekend, and would love to come again.

Thank you very much for your lovely review, Harriet and so glad you had a nice time and want to come again sometime. Enjoy the rest of your summer. Many thanks, Ann.

It was a large grass area. Very peaceful but just has a water tap and portable loo, no hand washing facilities.
Site's response
Hello, thank you for your honest review and it is as advertised - a portaloo, grass field and cold water taps and waste area. We do not offer anything else and sorry it did not suit what you booked. The larger and more commercial sites might be better for your future camping experience and enjoyment. Not for everyone always.

We had a lovely 2 nights at Brook Farm. The owner was very welcoming, she told us about local walks and bus routes if we needed to explore the area. Great location with lovely views. We travelled with family and used our own toilet. There is a portaloo on site that we used as soon as we arrived. It was clean enough with plenty of loo roll. Our pitch number was 3, unfortunately our electric cable was not long enough to reach the pitch from the electric point. Luckily, being with family we manged without it. We would definitely stay again. Our little girl aged 4 had the best time.
Great value, great location

The owner messaged with specific details the day before arrival and also met us on arrival. Great location for exploring Ashbourne, nice that it's dog friendly as well. Level pitches, will definitely use again.

We booked same day and was our first camping trip. Great location. Not the biggest field but pitch was big enough. Unfortunately, our area had a lot of animal mess around it and, as we had a tent not a caravan, this was something we had to sort ourselves on arrival. Only one portaloo for everyone, but as it's small, it wasn't too much of an issue. Could maybe do with having one for men and one for women. Think one of the cows may have got stuck in the field on its own overnight as I was woken up multiple times with it being right by our tent making lots of loud noises, which was a bit annoying. All in all it wasn't perfect, but definitely worth it for the price.
A very pleasant stay

Lovely, quiet site on a beautiful farm. The owners check that you are ok and are very friendly. It is a small site surrounded by fields with various livestock. The pitches are large, grass only ones. The only downside is that there is limited facilities. One portaloo only and cold water. It is about a 1 hour walk from Ashbourne town centre.

It was really good, I had clear communication from the start, easy booking process too. The only problem I encountered was that someone had broken the toilet lock that night, which means I couldn't use the toilet, as people kept opening the door. Didn't feel comfortable trying again. But apart from that, it was a lovely stay and I would certainly go back.

We visited this campsite the other weekend and spend a few nights there in our tent. The people who owned the campsite were really friendly and made us feel welcome. It is a lovely location with Ashbourne on your door step. Also there is an Aldi and Marks and Spencer down the roads. Perfect if you want to go and spend the day at Dovedale too. Overall, we had a very positive experience and would definitely be visiting again.

Perfect stay for us. We wanted a quiet stay, basic provisions and lovely location. We got the lot. Kids playing football by the van, access to water and toilets and electrical hook up. All good!

We stayed one night to see how our new camper performed. Loved the site, large plots, electric and peaceful. Some nice walks and a great farm shop Alder Carr 5 minutes walk from the site, cheap, fresh and of course, we met GARY (PIG) We will be regulars here. And the site is fine with sign-written vans...

We loved the generous spacing of the pitches. Due to the lack of shower facilities, we would only stay for a max of 2 nights, but loved our stay and the peaceful situation.
Site's response
Thank you Jenny and really appreciate your review. Just a shame we cannot offer that facility. We hope to see you again sometime.
