An ideal location for camping, Black Mountain is a place to get back-to-basics, take a digital detox and explore the glorious Brecon Beacons National Park. The site is right by the Red Kite Feeding Station, so ideal for nature lovers.

Why you'll love it at Black Mountain Caravan and Camping Site

About the site

This is a small, family run campsite situated in a fantastic place for walking (OS map recommended). The scenery is spectacular, and being in one of Britain's International Dark Sky Reserves, it's even lovelier at night. This spot is also ideally located for keen birdwatcher, landscape/wildlife photographers and if you want a change of pace it's an easy and pleasant drive to the Gower, Aberglasney and the National Botanical Gardens of Wales. If you want a site that has entertainment, internet and good mobile signal you will probably find it a little slow for your liking. If, however, you wish to escape the rush of daily life, forgetting about constant emails and calls - you may well have found the ideal place. The park also offers a number of static caravans for hire.

Open from 1 April to 31 October

The Black Mountain Caravan Park asks that no loud music is played and that noise is kept to a minimum at all times to maintain the peaceful nature of the site.

Most people will come for the hiking and open countryside, however there are some cycling routes around the Usk Reservoir and tickets for fishing can be purchased in season from the hut situated by the dam, as long as you have a rod licence.

If you fancy traveling a little further about 30 mins drive away is the town of Brecon, a lovely town with some unusual shops and boutiques along with the Regimental Museum of the Royal Welsh (formerly The South Wales Borderers).
