Single Axle Caravan - Small Electric Hardstanding PitchesDec 2024

Heavy rain and howling winds. I felt that the pitch was very small, I couldn't walk round the van on the gravel. The grass was flooded and there was mud everywhere. Opposite my pitch there was a water/bin area making it very difficult to reverse onto the pitch. The electric hook up point was a long way away and I had to move my caravan slightly off the pitch in order to hook up with my 10m cable. It was right next to an industrial estate and a busy road, there were planes flying over too. The staff were friendly enough, it was close to Rye House railway station, making it easy and quick to get a train to London. The showers were hot and had overhead heaters so the building was warm, same with the toilet block. Some of the doors have dropped on their hinges and you have to hoist the door up with your foot to lock them, but the showers and loos were clean and tidy. I saw a laundrette which I didn't need to use, but this was a useful addition to the site. There were a fair few geese wandering around so anyone with a fear of birds probably shouldn't come, but I like them, so it's all good. There is a kids play area and there is also a shop in the reception area which has long opening hours, unlike a lot of sites.

Single Axle Caravan - Small Electric Hardstanding PitchesSep 2024

I stayed with my two children and dog - we had a great time. The facilities are good and the staff very helpful. The showers were hot and the general area was very clean and well managed. We hired a fire pit and had fires in the evening.

Not somewhere i'd rush back to

Small Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesAug 2024

We arrived after the check in time but had received an email letting us know where we should be camped, but ended up just trying to find a quiet corner somewhere as there were no pitch markers that seemed to match the number we had been given. We ended up pitching between two fairly large groups (one around 20 people and kids, the other probably closer to 30-40 people and kids). One of the groups was fairly considerate but the larger group were still singing/playing guitar/playing music until nearly midnight, which was when a rave started! Somewhere close by was an extremely loud festival/rave/dance event that was still booming out when we left the site around 7:30am the following morning. One of the worst nights' sleep I have had camping. The facilities were on and fairly clean, but rather dated and with a good third of the toilets and showers out of action. There is a decent pub just over the river but you are taking your life in your own hands a bit if you decide to walk by the road, as there's no footpath and its poorly lit.
