Activities available locally include cycling, walking and swimming. A wonderful village pub and tearoom for lovely food and snacks, plus a local family dairy selling eggs, milk, ice cream etc are in the village.

Days out from the campsite can be filled with a trip to the wonderful Spa town of Buxton, taking in a show at the famous opera house, taking the kids (big and little) to Go Ape

Visitors who stop off in the village on this walk have passed through Cromford, Bonsall and Youlgreave coming from the south and from the north they have taken in Castleton, Tideswell, Millers Dale, Taddington and Flagg. The nearby High Peak and Tissington trails offer family-friendly walking and cycle hire.

From there, the trail splits and you can either take in Alsop, Tissington, Thorpe or Ashbourne, skirting the renowned Dove Dale, on the Tissington Trail, or head out towards Middleton, Black Rocks and Cromford on the High Peak Trail.

For real nature lovers, there is a fantastic journey through Lathkill Dale National Nature Reserve towards Over Haddon, Alport and Youlgreave.

The dale stretches for around five miles along a flower filled limestone gorge, depending on the time of year you can find cowslips, orchids anemones, Jacobs Ladder and many other species of rare flowers.
