Smugglers Cove Campsite has three pitches by the edge of the River Dyfi looking across to Ynyshir Bird Reserve with the most spectacular of views. Guests can book one of the beached boats also. This small, friendly boatyard on the Dyfi Estuary, located at an old slate works and quay in the Snowdonia National Park is a slightly eccentric, sustainable resource for all to enjoy.
About Smugglers Cove Campsite
Located 3 miles upriver from the Aberdyfi Bar and on the A493, situated directly opposite the RSPB's Ynyshir Bird Reserve where BBC's Springwatch was filmed, these camping spots are highly sought-after and tend to book up very quickly as there are only three pitches. You have access to all the beauty of the Dyfi and also Snowdonia National Park. Each camping spot has its own firepit, allowing al fresco eating whilst you keep an eye out for the majestic and famous Dyfi ospreys catching their fish for dinner! For those wanting something different, The Boy John is a quirky glamping boat that sleeps two people with the most stunning of views, set in one of the most sought after locations in West Wales. Sympathetically converted using recycled and sustainable materials this unique place to stay in the idyllic Dyfi Valley offers tourists a truly unique accommodation experience. It includes gas rings for cooking, a kettle and fridge and access to other facilities close by. The Hannah is a gorgeous 32ft mahogany Hillyard yacht that has been converted into basic glamping accommodation. She is smaller than Boy John, but with the same spectacular views.
The site is officially open from April until early November, but please contact staff for stays outside of those dates and they will do their best to accommodate you.
There are 5 accommodation options on-site
3 x Grass and Wood Chip Riverside Pitches
There are three pitches called Dulas, Angell and Dyfi which are located on the edge of the River Dyfi looking across to Ynyshir Bird Reserve, great for spotting ospreys. Each space has its own fire pit.

Site rules and policies
1. The number of tents per pitch is restricted to one per booking.

3. No unaccompanied under 18's
4. Sailing, motorboating, canoeing etc is quite acceptable on the Dyfi estuary, and guests at Smugglers Cove can use our boatyard slipway to launch their craft. There is also a speed limit of 5mph around our boatyard and all the way inland to Machynlleth. Please just ask us if you want any advice.
5. Please leave the pitch clean and tidy, and dispose of all rubbish & recycling in the bins provided in the main car park.
6. Please respect your neighbours and keep noise to a minimum at night, and no amplified music please (sound travels very easily/ far across the estuary!
7. YOUNG CHILDREN. WARNING!!! PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF THESE RISKS. If your party includes children, we would especially bring your attention to specific potential dangers on site. 1. An operational railway runs on a raised embankment through part of the boatyard. Children must not try to get on the track. A busy road runs near the boatyard, please do not let children go onto the road.2. The yard and workshops house both an operational boatyard and some small local businesses and craft studios. Therefore, there is some risk in these areas. Please do not access areas which are signposted as 'no access'. Please do not let children play in the boatyard area where there are boats stored, as there may be trip and slip hazards. There is motor traffic movement on the boatyard including occasional heavy goods vehicles. 3. Young children should be supervised playing on the beach of the estuary. Great care should be taken if they are swimming. The tide comes in strongly covering the sands quickly and there are powerful currents. The slipway is also used to launch boats. 4.
