Things to do on site and in the Windermere area
Being located on the shores of Lake Windermere, it's the perfect spot for those who love being beside the water.
The Lake District National Park is a cyclist's haven and there is an abundance of cycleways and bridleways which you can choose to explore during your stay. There is something for everybody, whether you are a keen mountain biker, enjoy a leisurely cycle or are just getting started on two wheels.
If you enjoy walking then the Lake District will delight you with its array of gentle trails, long-distance rambles and steep climbs - boasting some of the most spectacular views in the country.
Gummers Howe is just a short distance away and is a short, family-friendly walk with the reward of breathtaking views across the lake. Orrest Head is another short walk which benefits from magnificent views, located in Windermere town centre with its parade of shops, restaurants, and pubs to visit on your return.
Lake Windermere is the largest natural lake in England, stretching from Newby Bridge in the south to Ambleside in the north. A trip to the north and western Lake District is really a must, with its rugged coastline, England's highest mountain range and the most beautiful of all the lakes, Ullswater.
Choose to tie in your walk with a trip on an Ullswater 'Steamer' or take a journey on the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, one of the oldest and longest narrow gauge railways in England.
