About Craighead Howfs

Set in the eight acres of grounds and gardens at Craighead Farm, there is a choice of five glamping/self-catering accommodations. All offer a unique experience, each sleeping two and spread across the site so everyone can enjoy some privacy and a peaceful stay. The Summer Howf is a delightfully renovated summer house set in a secluded spot alongside a duck pond at the top of the garden. The garden has matured over the years to create this gorgeous little tucked-away spot. Outside you can enjoy a glorious wood fired hot tub with views over the fields and hills, then sit by the fire pit as the sun sets and listen to the ducks chatter. The cabin has a charming all-in-one bedroom with a stargazing window and a lounge area with a light and airy feel, along with a wood-burning stove for those cooler months. The covered patio outside ensures that you can sit out, whatever the weather and the little fairy lights in the evening add to its European feel. You could also opt to try the very special round door howfs which will make you feel like you're entering the pages of a fairytale. Constructed from natural stone and wood into the hillside with handmade doors, windows and furniture, designed and built by the team, there is nothing else like them! Inside you will find everything you need for your stay including a cosy double bed with a stargazing window and in one a slipper bath, or in the other a luxury shower. With gas to cook on and a wood-burning stove, you can be snug inside or sit outside by the fire pit/BBQ and enjoy the view of the rolling hills. Each also has its own private eco loo next door. The Wee Tree Howf is a romantic and secluded waterside treehouse on stilts. Inside you will find the downstairs floor with a kitchenette, gas stove and oven, a slipper bath, a Burn beer/wine fridge pulley, seating, a wood-burning stove. Upstairs is a cosy double bedroom with a stargazing window above the bed, with a window out to views across the lochan to the countryside beyond. Next to the Wee Tree Howf is an adjacent cabin with a shower, eco loo and washing up area. Outside you will also have a patio area with a fire/BBQ pit and a fab wood burning hot tub, what better place to sit with a glass of wine and watch the sun set over the water! The Ash Tree Howf sits in an ancient ash tree, and its high perch offers incredible 360-degree views of the countryside. Inside you'll find a handmade king-size bed with a huge stargazing window above. The wood-burning stove doubles as a quirky oven, with hot and cold running water to an antique Belfast sink. There's also a hot shower and wash basin, plus a downstairs eco-friendly compost toilet. Outside, you'll find a wraparound platform with a heart-shaped table for romantic dining, plus a fire pit and BBQ on a separate grassy area. The Whisky Howf is a quirky stone building, transformed to be a luxury cabin inside. The off-grid cabin is over 300 years old, equipped with a king-size bed, a fully equipped kitchen with a gas hob and oven, a roll top slipper bath and an ensuite compost loo and modern shower. The cabin also has its own private outdoor area with a fire pit, BBQ, and seating, all with views over the surrounding countryside and lochan, great for spotting fish jumping and birds diving. In all of the accommodation, bed linen and towels are provided, along with a starter box of wood and kindling. In terms of what to bring, a torch and slippers are recommended, along with an eye mask if you have a stargazing window. You will have access to a fridge and freezer, a cool box, ice packs and ice for your drinks. Other than that, just bring a bottle of bubbly or two! Sorry, this is a pet-free site so four-legged friends are not allowed.

Whisky Howf is open all year round while the Wee Tree and Summer Howf are open from March to November.
