About Swallowtails
Standing in a 1.5 acre field situated on the edge of the North York Moors, Swallowtails is home to a range of luxury glamping yurts and Lotus Belle tents. A welcoming and family friendly glamping hideaway just outside of Pickering (10 minutes), take in the views and start planning your adventures to the moors or Howardian Hills on your doorstep here. Comfort is the priority, with every yurt and bell tent providing plenty of space and well insulated. All include a king sized bed as well as additional single beds plus an outdoor gas BBQ for alfresco dining. The owners here also run a wide variety of activities for the holidays, hosting regular pizza evenings, yoga, arts and crafts for little ones and more. It's an ideal base for families or for those looking for outdoor adventures. You can book massages, aromatherapy, yoga and mindfulness onsite. Up to two well behaved dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead onsite and not be left in tents on their own.

Insulated and luxurious Lotus Belle tents are spacious and quipped with king size beds and two single beds in the form of daybeds and pull out single trundle bed. Each one sleeps up to five with an extra camp bed and bedding.
4 x 18ft Yurts
Max 5 people
Luxury insulated yurts are spacious and airy with windows and skylights. All have king size beds and two single beds in the form of a daybeds and pull out single trundle bed. All yurts have their own toilets and one yurt has ensuite facilities.
22ft Yurt
Max 7 people
Large and insulated yurt is extremely spacious, light and airy with windows and skylights for stargazing. King size bed and four single beds in the form of a daybeds and pull out single trundle beds, sleeping up to seven, and its own toilet.

Site rules and policies
At 'Swallowtails', we want everybody to enjoy themselves, but respect other campers and the Swallowtails facilities. So check out our full Terms and Conditions before you book and read the simple code below.
Noise
Noise should be kept to a minimum after 10pm and quiet time after 11pm. We do not allow the use of speakers of any size on the campsite to preserve the tranquility of the site unless the whole campsite is booked for an event.
Campfires
Wood can be brought onto the campsite if it is bought/bagged firewood (not wood from home gardens) to avoid cross contamination of tree diseases.
Alcohol
A few evening drinks are often part of a relaxing holiday (for grown ups, of course). However, if heavy consumption of alcohol is going to form part of your camping experience, then Swallowtails is not for you.
Recycling
Recycling is important to us and we try to make things as easy as possible for guests to recycle. We have separate bins for recyclable and general waste streams. We can provide separate bags for rubbish and recycling.
Ball Games
No ball games/frisbees to avoid balls being kicked into someone's BBQ, but badminton, swingball and beach balls are fine.

All vehicles entering site must be registered at reception. Free parking for cars in visitors car park.
Glampers have access to toilets and hot showers.
We allow up to 2 well behaved dogs, but they must not be left in the yurt and should sleep on their own bed or in a cage.
Bedding and towels provided.
Advance booking is advisable for all glamping.
Additional visitors to the site must check in and pay a small fee unless attending a 'Swallowtails' activity or workshop.
Generators are not permitted to be used on site.
Glamping check ins are normally after after 4pm on your arrival day. Please try to arrive at the glamp site before 7pm, check out should be by 11am - please check your booking email.
We ask for a £100 damage deposit on yurt/'Lotus Belle' bookings (see terms and conditions for details).
Please ensure you leave your yurt/bell tent in the same condition as on your arrival on departure.

Things to do on site and in the Pickering area
There's a wide range of activities to get involved with here - in fact, the site appeared in The Guardian's list of the best UK camping holidays with activities!
The programme of activities runs during the school holidays, weather permitting, with plenty to keep little ones occupied including art workshops, nature walks and pizza evenings.
Pizza nights run Wednesdays and Fridays and are open to all campers, offering the chance to build your own tasty creations, while art sessions are run by Freya - a fully qualified art teacher! Sessions for adults only can also be privately booked. Pre-booking activities is advised.
Why not also book yourself in for a yoga class and take your glamping holiday to the next level. All classes are suitable for anyone aged over 4 years.
Dalby Forest has a network of cycling trails catering to scenic pedals or more challenging rides. And don't miss a visit to bustling Pickering with its abundance of eateries and a ride aboard the North York Moors Railway. From the station you can reach Whitby's seaside or soak up the history at York.
