Why you'll love it at Wonderful Wilderness

About the site

If you want to get off grid and close to nature, Wonderful Wilderness' fifty acres will not disappoint. Accessed only by a four mile narrow winding road through countryside, it's isolated and tranquil, with magnificent views. Set up by the owners when they fell in love with the farm, it provides a perfect wilderness holiday for people who enjoy the simple things in life, as well as some extra comfort for those who need it. Choose from just six hand picked pitches or keep warm and cosy in a converted shepherd's hut at Wonderful Wilderness.

Bring your fishing gear and fish for river trout and salmon. If mountain biking is your thing, follow local forest and mountain trails, or head to Coed y Brenin in the Snowdonia National Park. The site is great for bird watchers and there is an excellent RSPB reserve based at Lake Vyrnwy. There's also canoeing, kayaking, sailing, windsurfing, abseiling and archery available in close proximity to the site.

For more sedate activities, nearby Lake Vyrnwy has restaurants, pubs and cafes all nearby the lake. Take a day trip to Barmouth, Tywyn and Abersoch beaches for miles of sand. Visit Powis Castle, a magnificent medieval fortress, or try one of three steam railways - the Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway, the Vale of Rheidol Railway, and the Talyllyn Railway.
