The rural location provides the perfect respite from the stress of day-to-day life and allows guests to enjoy the outdoors, with all of those added comforts of glamping. Guests can stay in the four person Willow yurt which comes with a double and two smaller 2.5ft wide single beds, ideal for children. Or, one of the three larger yurts named Badger, Buzzard and Woodpecker which come equipped with a king-size bed and four singles, great for groups of up to six. Each of the yurts enjoys traditional furnishings, cosy bedding and a wood-burning stove to keep warm on those cooler evenings. Outside your yurt you will also have your own sheltered camp kitchen with a gas stove with two hobs, a small oven, cutlery, crockery and utensils, so you have everything you need for your morning's full English! Here you will also find your private washing-up station, modern Weber kettle BBQ and a seating area with a parasol, great for a spot of al fresco dining. All of the yurts also have a fire pit area with bench and stool seating, the perfect place to toast marshmallows under a starlit sky. Your own eco loo can also be found by your yurt, with shared modern, Scandinavian-style showers and flushing loos in the shared communal barn a short walk away. A note from the site themselves...

Enjoy a warm welcome from Katie and Mark who have owned and managed Blackdown Yurts since March 2016. Katie is a zoologist with a specialism in bat conservation. She has a passion for all wildlife on the 30-acre farm where the yurts nestle in a peaceful rural valley with beautiful views of the Blackdowns.

When Mark isn't busy improving our offering here at the yurts he is off filming all over the world for television. Mark and Katie have two children and two Welsh terrier dogs and live in a farmhouse onsite.

Yurt - Willow YurtJul 2024

We stayed for a rainy weekend in Willow Yurt. The yurt was really cosy and comfortable. Wood was provided for the log burner, as well as for the fire pit. The outdoor kitchen was great, with all equipment we needed. Location was beautiful; along proper country lanes, but directions provided were clear, and it meant that we really felt like we were in the middle of the country. Lots of options for local walks, with fantastic views from top of hills. The barn was well equipped- would be great meeting space for larger groups, with another cosy fire. Was also good to have an allocated shower room and fridge. We had a lovely weekend and hope to return.

Yurt - Buzzard YurtAug 2023

We had a great stay at Blackdown Yurts. We were very lucky with the weather but we loved the yurts and there was everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The hosts had a great app with advice on places to visit/eat etc, this was very useful. The other families staying in neighbouring yurts were very friendly and the kids all played together. Very safe place to play out all evening. We enjoyed sitting out under the stars with a campfire, toasting marshmallows.
