Set on a quiet farm at the base of an Iron Age hill fort, Eggardon Hideaways offers rustic shepherd's huts with log burners, fire pits, private outdoor kitchens and exceptional views. With the Jurassic Coast, Bridport and Beaminster only 15 minutes away, it's also a great base for exploring Dorset's hidden gems. Best yet, feel free to bring the dog along for the fun!

Why you'll love it at Eggardon Hideaways

This glamping site is hidden among the trees of a small, secluded coppice on the side of an Iron-Age hill fort with views stretching to Lewesdon Hill and Golden Cap on the horizon. With buzzards flying overhead and deer hiding in the long grasses, it's ideal for romantic getaways or a quiet retreat with loved ones.  The site offers two cosy shepherd's huts for hire: Nettlecombe Hut and Ingillie's Hut. Nestled in the woods, Nettlecombe Hut sleeps three and is equipped with a double bed, single bed, log burner and plenty of storage space. Outside, there's also a private outdoor kitchen with gas hobs and running water, a fire pit with seating and your own compost toilet and outside bath. There's also a battery pack for phone charging. Meanwhile, Ingillie's Hut sleeps two and contains a double bed, log burner and other useful items. This off-grid unit also comes with a basic outdoor kitchen and fire pit with seating. Guests have access to the communal toilet and shower facilities nearby. In addition to the shepherd's huts, there's also a luxury yurt that sleeps four, fitted with a double bed and two single beds. Tucked behind the campsite, you'll find beautiful barns repurposed as workshops for a rich community of makers and menders. The nearby workshops offer you the chance to learn new skills from local craftspeople, such as pottery, basket making, spoon carving, yurt making or flower arranging. If you can bear to leave the serenity of your surroundings, Bridport and Beaminster are only 15 minutes away. You're also a stone's throw from the beautiful Jurassic Coast, perfect for beach trips and long coastal walks. Well behaved pets are welcome for an extra charge. Rest assured that there are plenty of excellent woodland dog walks to enjoy! Campfires are permitted in the fire pits provided and wood can be purchased at the reception.

A note from the site themselves...

The land which the glamping site sits is incredibly special. On the side of an iron aged hill fort it seems fitting that the old farm buildings have been repurposed as workshops, with a blacksmith and basket maker, a potter and lino cutter, a yurt maker and carpenter, it's as if the land is destined as a place people come together and create.

We are planting a forest garden in a corner of the field in that hope that in years to come you will be able to forage food to cook on the fire. The farm belongs to Victor's family. He planted some of the woodland together with his late father and is passionate about the flora, fauna and geology of the site.
