Moss Lane Cottage Camping is a great place to pitch up and relax on the Welsh border, near Whitchurch. It's a back to basics campsite in the heart of farming countryside and spread over two fields with just eight spacious pitches for tents and campervans. Located in the village of Hanmer, it's a 15-minute stroll from the popular Hanmer Mere lake, perfect for open-water swimming!

Picked this site as it was handy for Ellesmere and also within short walking distance to Hanmer Mere. The host was very helpful and welcoming. The site is very quiet and peaceful, the facilities were clean and more than adequate. Useful to note the covered seating area with tables, this would be very useful on wet days. Will stay again.
Absolutely lovely site!

Camped for the night while we attended the triathlon at Ellesmere. The campsite was in the perfect location on 6 miles from the race HQ, and an easy drive to Whitchurch for a bite to eat. The campsite was quiet and peaceful with good facilities and the owners were lovely. Will definitely use again.
We'll definitely be back.

We loved this campsite so much! The facilities were so wonderful and the showers were gorgeous. The owners were lovely people, from whom we bought eggs from the chickens living on the farm. Not too busy or corporate, here is the peace your looking for. The nearby village was beautiful too. A much needed getaway, we came here without any experience of booking campsites and we got very lucky with this hidden gem of a place to stay. Everyone agreed we would love to come back!
A lovely campsite

The campsite was brill. We were in the bottom field and there was loads of space for everyone as there are only six pitches on the field. The undercover communal area is a great resource with toasters, kettles and fridges. We bought some local eggs, had a 50p ice cream from the freezer and had a game of darts, what’s not to love. A lovely site in a lovely area. Thank you x

We loved the quietness and location. Very kind owners. Very dog friendly. Bit disappointed that on arrival, they were starting moving sheep around and cut grass where we were supposed to pitch, but as it was quite windy we still wanted that spot for some shelter. We just felt it all could have been done before our agreed arrival time of 4pm. Also a large group started pitching up next to us which we could have been warned about so we could still reconsider where to pitch. Thankfully, it was a lovely bunch of young people and the noise was not too bad and stopped just after midnight. Only 2 showers/toilets so bit tricky when it is busy..
Lovely, small holding site with fantastic hosts

Very remote, didn't fancy the wild swimming when we went and looked at it (not the cleanest), basic facilities but very clean and Sue was constantly cleaning. Excellent recycling facilities. I travelled with 2 teenagers, so the communal area with darts and giant Jenga and tables we played our own games on was brilliant! There is the use of a kettle and toaster and electric for those who don't have such items for camping. I particularly liked the animals (ducks, peacocks, chickens and sheep) which kept me amused all weekend. Local small convenience store for when you have forgotten something (closes lunch time Saturday and not open Sunday).
