Although missing from the North Coast 500 route, the peninsula of Coigach offers a variety of activities, including walking, rock climbing, kayaking, sailing, diving, and bird watching. Views overlooking the Summer Isles - a group of about 20 islands - are sensational.

The site looks out onto Isle Ristol, where there's a long white sand beach to explore at low tide. A little further from the shore, Eilean a Chleirich is an RPSB reserve with seals, otters and seabirds.

Ullapool is within easy reach, offering ferries to the Outer Hebrides and return day trips to Stornoway. To the north lies Lochinver. Venture in this direction for Assynt Bone Caves and Eas a' Chual Aluinn - Britain's highest waterfall.

Salmon and sea trout fishing is available on Loch Oscaig, with a 20% discount for campsite customers (boat, engine and petrol provided).
