Granddaughters introduction to camping

Great stay and introduction to camping for granddaughter. Having the river Stour on our doorstep and the canoe and SUP hire made the stay even more special. Granddaughter enjoyed playing on the swings as well. Facilities were good and the mobile pizza van on our first night was a great addition. Enjoyed a couple of meals at the nearby pub in Nayland. Our only gripe is that we booked for three, Grandad, Dad and 6 year old and tent only came with one double mattress, which meant my old bones got a bit of a hammering. Alright, I guess if you are seasoned campers and have the appropriate equipment but that is why we booked the permanent tent and I guess for £200 for two nights expected a bit more comfort. Would definitely go again and recommend to others - thanks.

First time coming to this site. It was everything that the listing said it would be. We stayed for 2 nights and had the must relaxing time, site was very clean, facilities were clean. They have an amazing site that we will return to. Paddled down to Nayland and back. We will return next year. A couple of nights was enough to explore the river.

We extended our break for an extra night and were really grateful for this as we had a wonderful time. The riverside location was wonderful, waking up to sit at the jetty with Ken and Barbara (swans) waiting there for you. Although serene and quiet at the campsite, it was only a 20 minute drive to Colchester if you wanted to explore a town or need extra supplies. Locally, we enjoyed woodland walks and hired a canoe and paddleboard to be able to explore the river too. The site was good at sticking to the curfew rules making it perfect for the kids, and was never too loud. Providing the fire pits for a fee was handy for us as one less thing to pack but still providing the means for the kids to have their smores. The facilities are basic but all that is required. There is someone always pottering around to help with anything that may be required. The kids are already asking to go back!

We had a 3 night weekend stay on this outstanding campsite. Great location right on the river Stour. The scenery is outstanding and if you're into canoeing or boarding, it is an ideal location. We took our paddle boards and a few trips up and down the river. Canoes are available for hire on this site. The owners are spot on and very helpful and friendly and the facilities are spotless. Great for a family holiday. The fire pits are a great addition to this campsite. We will be coming back.

We stayed at Rushbanks for 2 nights in our campervan (2 adults and 2 children). Check in is very easy and being able to choose your pitch on arrival is ideal. Strict rules about space between pitches means you have plenty of space, making it a very comfortable stay. There are ample, clean facilities and plenty to do at the site. Will definitely visit again.

Lovely setting and very friendly staff. It was however, very noisy and I think I'd look for a more family friendly site in future.
Great place, great staff, get back to nature

Great stay at Rushbanks, The site is lovely and very picturesque. We travelled with a young baby and wanted to rent a canoe. When the baby didn't like his life jacket, we asked for a refund as we couldn't go and the team immediately refunded. Very welcoming and great for families, definitely recommend.

A good campsite for families who want to take advantage of canoeing - beyond that, all you are getting is a bit of grass and some loos. Electric, shop, or even a freezer for ice blocks would be the norm at most campsites but sadly lacking here. The staff were really friendly though. Kids were a but noisy and it would have been nice for a 'low noise policy' after it got dark to be enforced.

Hi, thank you for your review. As you mentioned, we provide canoe hire for a magical canoe to the pub, paddleboard hire and bell tent hire right on the river. We are an off grid campsite that is on a flood plain and most of our campers love us for that reason. Every night, we advise our campers to be quiet after 11pm. We patrol each night to try and get everyone quiet by 11.30pm for pub rules, not club rules. Maybe try our swing with the best riverside view in the UK next time. We hope to see you again sometime. Great spot next to the little River Stour if you like kayaking etc. Showers were hot, toilets clean, facilities were excellent and the guys running it were terrific. Couldn't fault the place.
