About Brocklands Farm

Brocklands Farm nestles in the heart of the South Downs National Park, overlooking Hampshire's stunning Meon Valley. The caravan site is a straightforward grassy strip, located along the edge of a field in a beautiful valley at the bottom of the farm, with access directly onto the Meon Valley Trail, the South Downs Way and tracks around the farm. It is a spacious and simple site, with only a water supply and a chemical emptying point. You'll need to be self-sufficient otherwise, but the pitches are large and it is a safe and friendly space for children to play. The farm's two safari tents are well spaced in a secluded conservation meadow, away from the camping field. Each of the tents sleeps 6, with a king bedroom, twin bedroom and double cabin bed, all complete with comfy beds, pure cotton bedding and dual-tog feather-light duvets. The living areas have fully equipped kitchens, with wood-burning ranges for warmth and cooking, a comfortable sofa, table and chairs. A chest of games and maps will give you plenty of ideas, should you be able to tear yourselves away from the stunning views, flickering campfire and fairy lights. The tents also have ensuite bathrooms with another wood burner to heat the water for your showers and a sophisticated compost toilet (eco-toiletries and towels provided). Outside, you can watch the sunset from the deck with a glass in your hand while your children explore the woods or swing on the rope swing. Toast a few marshmallows on the campfire, then listen to the owls hooting and pheasants roosting before heading to bed.

Brocklands Farm is open from 29/03 to 03/11.

A note from the site themselves...

I grew up on Brocklands Farm and never expected to spend most of my life here! It's a real privilege to live in such a beautiful place. My father set up the caravan site 30 years ago and I started managing it when he became too infirm to do it himself. I found that I really enjoyed meeting all our visitors. In 2014 I found another way of welcoming guests to our farm - glamping! We openened with Yellowhammer in 2015 and added Lapwing a year later.

My aim was to create the sort of place that my family would enjoy going on holiday to. Of course I'm really helped by the stunning countryside, but I also made sure the tents are really comfortable and attractive places to be. We've tried to make sure that everything has been thought of to make your holiday as relaxing as possible. We've also limited the number of tents to two, so that you really feel you are away from the hustle and bustle and can truly relax in an exclusive, beautiful and calming place.

One of my favourite things is showing guests into the tents - they are always so enthusiastic about it, and I'm pleased (but not surprised) when I get the comment 'they are even nicer than the photographs'!

You are welcome to have up to two dogs staying with you when you stay in the Lapwing safari tent. Dogs must however be kept on a lead at all times (including when you arrive) and must not be left unsupervised nor allowed on the furniture. Set on the slopes of Old Winchester Hill, campers and glampers are welcome to explore the farm via its private tracks. The South Downs Way is accessible at the top of the farm and the village of West Meon is a short off-road walk away, whether you start from the glamping field or caravan site.

At West Meon you'll find a community shop, cafe, prize-winning butcher and the Thomas Lord Pub - which comes well recommended. The Meon Valley Trail for walking and cycling is also accessible from the farm.

Children love to explore the woods at the back of the site or use the rope swing under the oak tree. Space to run around (and a platform on which to sip an evening glass of wine for the adults) are pleasures to be treasured.

Other nearby attractions include:

  • Crab fishing at Emsworth
  • West Wittering beach
  • Ride on the Watercress Line
  • Marwell Zoo
