The majority of guests are here for the surfing, either to give it a go for the first time or as an experienced surfer. Other popular activities include the miles of coastal path, most of which runs through National Trust land.

The village is a few moments walk away down the coast path, there are well stocked shops and a selection of cafes, restaurants and take-aways. With the Cracking Crab adjacent to the reception at Tristram and the Oystercatcher pub just up the hill, most people abandon their cars for the duration of their stay to make for a nice relaxing holiday.

Port Issac is nearby, and is a popular fishing village, although it is now known better as "Port Wenn" as featured in Martin Clunes' hit ITV series Doc Martin.

Rock is the next village along from Polzeath and offers superb sailing and water sports activities. From Rock you can catch the passenger ferry over to Padstow to explore the shops and the many cafes and restaurants, with the most famous being Rick Stein's.

Wadebridge is 7 miles away and is a delightful market town, with plenty of independent shops. It's also a popular starting point for cycling the Camel Trail, a disused railway route that runs from Bodmin Moor, following the River Camel all the way to the sea at Padstow.
