Nice clean site. Great to take your dog. Ideal for children and families. Toilets and showers were very clean and well maintained. Didn't use the pool but looks really well.

Trailer Tent - Electric Grass Tent PitchesAug 2024

Campsite itself is quite good. However, facilities, if you are in a corner is quite a long way to go. Also, one of the shower blocks. External lighting came on very late, so you can't use the washing up sinks and some of the staff's customer service skills can be very much improved. However, all in all, not a bad site. Lovely location good size pictures a lot of space for everyone.

Site's response

Hi, dark nights creeping in. Sorry we didn't notice lights were not coming soon enough. We change them several times during the season to save energy. We will get the time clocks altered. If you come again, please do let the team know if there is something we need to attend to.

Our first stay here. I couldn't have asked for any better. All of the staff were extremely pleasant and couldn't do enough to help. Facilities were great and it was so clean and well maintained. Can't wait for next year now!

Medium Tent - Electric Grass Tent PitchesAug 2024

We camped for 4 nights. Unfortunately had some bad weather but was given options on where to pitch tent away from the wind, which was great. Some areas to pitches are on a slope. We went to the club house a couple of times, once for dinner and the steak was amazing, breakfast twice, one was amazing and the next time was a bit cold, maybe as we were the last to order at closing and chef was in a rush? But overall, good. Entertainment is great for kids, includes family games and bingo. Facilities clean and warm water for showers. Shop on site has essentials. Swimming pool was still freezing even though it says heated. We had a lovely times overall and would definitely book this again if coming to Dorset.

I am very happy for our first time camping

Large Tent - Electric Grass Tent PitchesAug 2024

It is our first time camping, our spot was pitch 210 on top of the hill, very good view, very large space. Very clean site, toilet cleaned frequently. Also, in the time I was there, wasn't very busy, so really peaceful and quiet. We loved the pool, good size, kids loved it, water was not freezing, so even weather was not warm, we still had fun in the pool. The restaurant was very nice, good option, stuff were very helpful. We had really good time. Seems lots of rules, but it is good to keep the site safe, clean and quiet.

Large Tent - Electric Grass Tent PitchesAug 2024

The pitches are large, well marked out, flat and level. Roads around the campsite are paved and it's laid out well, with hedges and walls for windbreaks which also break up the large fields, so you get a small-site feel. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the shop is well stocked and usual campsite prices. Showers and toilets were very clean, plentiful and in good working order. The swimming pool was well maintained and you just go to the shop each morning and book your 1/2 hour slot for that day. We didn't have any problems getting the swimming slots we wanted every day and the pool is never crowded. We didn't go to the bar/club as it was a bit noisy for our taste, with karaoke quite late into the night. The breakfast was excellent though and served by friendly staff. The recommended walk at sunset was really lovely. The setting of the campsite by fleet lagoon is beautiful and peaceful. We would definitely stay here again if in the area.

Site's response

Thank you, we are so pleased you enjoyed your stay. Our clubhouse entertainment finishes at 9pm and the clubhouse closes at 10pm. Occasionally we have a family talent show, but not more than once a week.

Large Tent - Electric Grass Tent PitchesAug 2024

A very nice site, all in all. Far enough away from the town to be peaceful but within a short drive of shops and supermarkets and the main attractions of Weymouth. Our pitch was on a bit of a slope, which was a bit annoying, but I've camped on worse. I thought that having to pay for Wi-Fi over and above was a bit much considering the cost per night of the pitches. Points deduction for that. The bar and restaurant was ok, fun for kids but a bit noisy for adults, although maybe that's just me, but decent food if you don't want the hassle of cooking. The site shop has a pretty good assortment of essentials. The pool was good, clean and well maintained, as were all the facilities. My wife, daughter and I had an enjoyable stay. A good, family friendly site.

Site's response

We are pleased you enjoyed your stay. We can usually offer alternative pitches if you check with reception. Everyone has their different preferred spot.

We cannot recommend this place enough. Absolutely stunning views (sunsets are incredible) view of the sea from our pitch. Really lovely, helpful staff and it's so clean. I didn't see one cleaner but everywhere is absolutely spotless. Gorgeous heated pool, great play area for the kids and so much room for them to play. Will definitely be coming again. Even my teenager said it was brilliant (they even let him charge his phone behind the till! 🙄😂)

Very much enjoyed our stay. Was so peaceful, everyone was very spaced out which gives you a nice amount of privacy. In a great location with various different towns to visit all within about 20 minutes. Supermarkets are within 5 minutes drive. As for the "pros" - I particularly loved the family bathroom, where there was a bath which was a great surprise for when the children don't like showers. It was a perfect size camp, everything was in close proximity. We could choose where we pitched. Everything was clean. Only one "con" - and only minor as I can live without, but would have loved sockets in the toilet or shower block to plug in my own hair appliances, but this wouldn't stop me coming back here!

Sprinter-Type Campervan - Electric Grass Campervan PitchesJul 2024

We live locally and wanted a break. The lady at reception was very pleasant, friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, the first day was marred by the constant mowing and strimming of the camping greens for three hours. OK, it has to be done, but it spoiled our first day there, which was a sunny hot day. In the evening we had a meal at the bar which was very good. No complaints at all. The next day was heavy rain all day - hey oh, we knew it was going to be raining and stayed in the campervan. The campsite is kept immaculate and the facilities are excellent. I could not see it mentioned, but they do have a MH service point for both grey waste and chemical toilet. All and all, we had a pleasant stay.

Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent PitchesJul 2024

Nice, quiet campsite in lovely rural location and a short drive from Weymouth centre. Shower facilities dated, but clean. Pool only open for 2 hours a day during our stay and it was a very busy during that time, so unfortunately we were not able to take advantage of that. Bar not open during stay, which was disappointing (peak season is classed as late May to early Sept, but bar was closed in July).

Site's response

Thank you for your stars and comments. Just to correct you on one issue, the majority of the English tourism industry would regard the peak season to be the main school holidays as this is when the majority of families take their holiday. As your visit was not during the summer peak, as advertised, the clubhouse was not open and the pool was operating for limited periods. You may be aware that many local municipal and leisure centre pools have closed in recent years due to the high costs of operation and maintenance. We have opted to open for limited periods only outside of the peak season when guest numbers are lower.

Lots of rules!

VW-Type Campervan - Electric Grass Campervan PitchesJul 2024

Visited this park with my partner and our 2 children, one being 6 months and other being 10. Weather was awful, so we planned to set up and then spend the evening in the clubhouse. When arriving, we were told the clubhouse was shut. No pre warning about this! Everywhere you look, you can't play ball games anywhere, even at the park. We felt this ruined our daughter's holiday. I felt the rules for the swimming pool were ridiculous! So if you're planning on going when the sun is out (if we get any) you can't wear sun-cream, so prepare to get burnt. One of the crazy rules. Honestly, for me the list of rules is ridiculous. Tried reaching out to the owner multiple times, even tried to call and didn't get a response! I would think about this site before you book. Prepare not to have fun with the list of rules and be restricted to what you can and can't do. We felt that this not a place to enjoy yourselves!

Site's response

Thank you for your comments. Sadly the weather is beyond our control, but it had been forecast for several days prior to your arrival. Had you wished to change the dates for your visit before you arrived we would have tried to accommodate your wishes. However, our cancellation policy is as stated on our website and elsewhere and does not allow guests to cancel their booking after they have arrived simply because it is raining. With regard to the opening of the clubhouse, as stated on Campsites.co.uk, this is open during the peak season only, that is to say the main school holidays. Your visit was not during peak season and so, as publicised, the clubhouse was closed, although you were advised of alternative facilities within a 10 minute walk. There are areas of the camping park where ball games are not allowed, for entirely valid safety reasons, such as around tents, roadways, buildings and the swimming pool, but there is also an entire field provided for playing in, which many younger guests thoroughly enjoy, when it's not raining, and sometimes even when it is. Like most swimming pools, we do ask guests to shower before entry into the water for reasons of good pool hygiene (many municipal and leisure centre pools have similar "shower before entry" policies). We also asks guests not to use suncream before swimming, in part because it has been shown that this can be damaging to your own skin, but also because the fats and oils contained in these products diminishes the hygienic and aesthetic quality of the water, making it unpleasant for other swimmers. UV protective swimwear is available for outdoor swimmers, or alternatively, simply pop on a t-shirt. In summary, we're sorry the weather wasn't to your liking, but we feel we take as many precautions as can reasonably be expected to ensure guests are aware of what will and won't be open at the time of their stay and to protect the safety and enjoyment of all our guests whilst they are here.

Beautiful site that is well maintained and with excellent facilities that are spotless. Lots of space around campsite for kids to play. Pool is a nice bonus. Excellent location for trips to Weymouth and lovely private farm coastal walk. Shop sells a good range at reasonable prices and barn serving food and entertainment is a plus. Ideal for families. We will be back.

Medium Tent - Electric Grass Tent PitchesAug 2023

Ideal location to base yourself for the lovely scenic county of Dorset. Showers and toilet facilities clean, would expect them to get very busy when the venue is packed, but it wasn't on this occasion. Pool clean and management are careful not to have too many people in there at one time. Clubhouse large and has a dance floor, with DJ on for a couple of hours in the evening. However, after all these positives, the strict rules and Management attitude towards their guests If felt left a lot to be desired. Poor telephone manner, rude to children and adults alike, shuts clubhouse early and hurried people out at last orders (10pm). Hoovering at last orders? Didn't return to clubhouse after that! Dogs to be kept on leads at all times, even well managed and behaved ones that are sitting by your own tent! With a cheerful approach, this venue could be so much better and welcoming! Having read the reviews for the past 10+ years though, similar feedback doesn't appear to have been taken on board.

Site's response

Thank you for your review. We operate a quiet night policy and as such our clubhouse closes at 10pm. Last orders are at 9.30pm. The entertainment finishes at 9pm. For the safety and enjoyment of all our guests and local wildlife - dogs are only accepted on the park IF they are kept on a lead at all times. This is made clear to dog owners at all stages of booking.

Large Tent - Electric Grass Tent PitchesAug 2023

Overall this is a lovely campsite, it is clean and the sites are spacious - however there are some negatives. I didn't like the fact you need to book for the swimming pool. Also if you wanted to have Wi-Fi, you had to pay 3 per day for each device, I think this is a really hefty cost, especially as we did purchase it for 1 day for 1 device and it didn't even work. Other campsites we have been to allow you to swap your ice packs for frozen ones. Here, they didn't do that, but charged you to have a frozen bottle of water - I thought this was pretty cheeky really. The entertainment was the same every night and was only on for a few hours, other than that it was lovely, nice walks and well maintained site. We took 2 teenage girls, so unless there are other teenager camping at the same time, then there is little for them to do

Site's response

Thank you for your comments and stars. It is necessary for guests to book pool sessions as it helps to manage bather numbers, which is essential to ensure the safe operation of all pools. We do charge for Wi-Fi as being in a remote rural location delivering a service to most areas of the camping park is a costly business. If a Wi-Fi voucher doesn't work for any reason we are always willing to offer a refund. Since the pandemic, we no longer offer a freezer pack service for reasons of health and hygiene. You will appreciate that freezing any item incurs costs and we don't think it unreasonable to make a charge for it. We find most customers consider paying the price of a bottle of water, for a bottle of water that is frozen, to be a handy way of getting a bottle of water and keeping their food box cool! Our camping park and the entertainments are primarily aimed at younger children, although we do find them popular with people of all ages. Sorry if it wasn't to the taste of your teenage girls. Doubtless you'll find a place better suited to their needs next time around. Thanks again for your thoughts and stars.

A really nicely maintained site with clear spaces marked out for pitching. The showers were clean as were the toilets. The children loved the pool which had nice picnic benches around it so you could watch if you didn't want to get in! There is a lovely local walk to Fleet Lagoon and directions were given by a member of staff when we booked in. Would definitely go back!

Single Axle Caravan - Electric Grass Caravan PitchesJul 2023

Pitch sizes are good. Showers clean and tidy. The club could do with a choice of draught beers and some updating. It was the start of the school holidays and it was very quiet, probably because there are too many rules on site - the do's and all the dont's.

Trailer Tent - Electric Grass Tent PitchesJul 2023

Just returned from a stay at West Fleet farm, overall a nice site with very clean facilities and well kept. There are a lot of reviews about strict rules on this site but we experienced no problems at all. The site was very quiet which suited us. I think the showers might become a bit busy if the site was full though as there seem to be over 300 pitches. If we returned to the area we would stay here again. A good site for considerate campers.

Site's response

Thank you. Pitch numbers operated max 180, and we have 3 separate facilities blocks, which many campers are not aware of.
