Much of your attention is likely to go to local beaches, whether it be Ferryside's own, the soft sands of Cefn Sidan or even the ever popular Rhossili with its surfing opportunities.

Wales is deservedly a haven for castles, and Kidwelly Castle is a fun example nearby, with its own unique history. But if it's speed you're seeking, you should hot foot it down to the deathdefying route at Pembrey Race Circuit or the incredible rides at Ffos Las Racecourse.

Hop on the train from the local station and you'll soon be on the Gower or discovering Cardiff Bay.
