About the site

A small site set in the countryside, Holmescales is conveniently within 15 mins of Kendal and Kirkby Lonsdale. If adventure is what you're looking for, this site has plenty to offer with activities from quad biking, archery and even raft racing. Access to two national parks is excellent thanks to the M6 (three miles away) and there's a train station taking you up to Scotland within a few miles too. All pitches are set on grass without electric and all offer tempting views of the Lakeland fells. You can prop your legs up by the campfire (raised off the ground, bring fire wood with you), try a BBQ and bring your well behaved dog with you. Couples and families are very welcome.

Holmescales Campsite is open from 01/04 to 31/10.

Large Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Aug 2024

This was a lovely location to camp in, we had beautiful view and the pitches were a good size. There were showers and toilets as well as somewhere to wash up dishes, which is all that was needed. We've not been camping before but found it a very pleasant experience. There are additional activities to book which looked like lots of fun, and would definitely want to give these a try if we go again.

Great place, great view, very peaceful!

Very interpersonal. Staff were very attentive, very accommodating and it showed in way we felt when we stayed. The other campers were very polite, chilled and welcoming too! It all adds to a great experience! The surroundings are awesome! Loads of little gems to unveil around the area!
