About Alpine Grove Touring Park

Set just outside the town of Chard, this family-friendly woodland site is an ideal base for exploring Somerset, within easy reach of Devon, Dorset and the Jurrasic Coast. Just 20 minutes from Lyme Regis, spend days out at the beach enjoying an ice cream and evenings wildlife spotting from your pitch. For tents and small campervan campers, there are ample pitches where you can enjoy the feeling of seclusion in a totally natural setting, with an abundance of both flora and fauna. There are non-electric woodland pitches set on a leaf littered floor, along with some electric pitches which are in a woodland grassy area with a mix of sun and shade. Caravans, campervans and motorhomes are served with hardstanding, naturally draining and level pitches, arranged in an arc with the freedom to erect awnings. These pitches have an optional 10 amp electric hook up. Some pitches are bathed in sunshine while others enjoy gentle shading from the leaf canopy of magnificent oaks. Picnic benches are arranged around the site for eating alfresco and are ideal for picnics and BBQs. Raised fire pits are also welcome onsite so don't forget the marshmallows. As well as camping and touring, the site has five luxury Scandinavian log cabins, four with private hot tubs. Friendly dogs are welcome, as long as they are on leads.

Camping and touring is available from April until October. The site's luxury log cabins are available throughout the year.

Medium Tent - Non Electric Woodland PitchesSep 2024

A lovely quiet spot to camp for a night (or longer if we had the time!), beautiful and quiet in the woods. It had everything you'd need on site, a friendly welcome and a nice footpath off the site for walking the dog.

Well maintained forest setting with swimming pool

VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Woodland PitchesAug 2024

Very beautiful trees and good spacing. Lovely heated pool for small kids. Even though we there for bank holiday and the site was fully booked, it was remarkably quiet. If we visited again, we would avoid the woodland setting as the bark floor covering got everywhere and was very dirty. We had a down pour of rain and we felt we were in the dark and dank for 2 days after. The toilet block was well maintained and the owners had rented extra luxury showers for the weekend. Very well stocked shop. The location is in the middle of nowhere with nothing reachable on foot. We walked the dog to the nearest pub but quite a bit was on the road. But, if you're willing to jump in the car, there are some great family days out within an hours' drive.

Perfect

Small Tent - Optional Electric Grass PitchesAug 2024

I really appreciate the thought that has gone into this site. The pitches are a good distance apart and tucked away for privacy. The toilet and showers are good and very clean. The play park is right outside and can occupy a child for a good length of time. Washing up station ideal and recycling point like a filing system. The pool is heated and big enough for a family to have good fun. Lots of water points. Woodland walk is flat and simple, ideal for all ages. I would definitely stay here again, for the quiet and the trees.
