Owl Valley Glamping is an off-grid eco friendly site. The valley is home to two cabins, a geodome and a bell tent, widely spaced and private. Each a five minute walk from your car, you will feel like you are miles from anywhere, despite actually being less than two miles from Bideford, Westward Ho! and Appledore. A wildlife pond with a slate-bedded stream runs alongside the valley, and a comfortable and quiet retreat awaits you.

About the site
Set in its own valley with a pretty slate-bedded stream running alongside, Owl Valley is just five to ten minutes from Bideford, Westward Ho!, Appledore and the rest of the glorious North Devon coast.
The site is home to a variety of cosy glamping accommodation from cabins to a geodome.
The Barn Owl Cabin is the perfect option for up to four people. The Tawny Cabin sleeps five across a king sized bed, two single futons and a small sofa bed. For larger groups the Long Eared Geodome sleeps six.
Each on a platform and lit with solar fairy lights, equipped with beds, pillows, bedding, blankets, pots, pans, crockery and cutlery. Enjoy your own private bathroom facilities with composting toilets.
For ultimate luxury, the Barn Owl and Tawny cabin and the Long Eared geodome all have their own private wood fired hot tub!
There is also a bell tent on site.
Owl Valley was once run as a private nature reserve, and staff do their best to keep the valley natural and a good place for wildlife and people to stay. If you want a complete break from the stresses of today's life then this is the place to come.
There is no WiFi, no phone signal (mostly), and no electricity. Just lots of outdoor fun!
Sorry, no pets are permitted on site.
There is a large campfire sited in the old quarry, with logs provided, and, in the hut up on the old carriageway, there is a kettle/pizza BBQ for your use. On rainy days, the recreation shack has gas rings, a log burning stove and a washing up area for guests. Darts and lots of games and books are available inside, too.
Staff will provide you enough logs for your stay free of charge, but if you need more they can be purchased at the small honesty shop, along with eggs, milk and other essentials.
The nearest pub is the Crealock Arms, about a mile away, going uphill on the way and downhill on the way back.
A note from the site themselves...
Under our ownership (Chris and Lesley), exploring Owl Valley continues to be a magical experience both in essence and style. Inundated with work and responsibilities, we lose ourselves in the hustle and bustle of everyday life. A glamping experience is precisely what you need to break out of the rut and find yourself again, believe us - we're living proof.
At Owl Valley, we recognise that the beauty and serenity of nature are invaluable, and we are lucky that we get to experience it in all its glory. Therefore, we strive to minimise our environmental impact and keep our trip as eco-friendly as we can.
We try to reuse and recycle wherever possible and ask our guests to join us in helping to preserve our special piece of the countryside. We urge our happy campers to join us in our mission and ensure that the valley retains its raw and pristine beauty.

We had a lovely stay, it was nice and secluded amongst the trees next to the stream. We had our own facilities. It was comfortable, having a hot shower alfresco was amazing. Chris was an brilliant host and very accommodating. It was very relaxing, perfect to be in nature, especially in the rain. We will definitely recommend it.

Glamping Cabin - Barn Owl CabinJul 2023
A fantastic site, stunning location in a quite wooded valley with a stream a few metres from the front door.
The cabin was beautiful, nice big deck to sit out in and the wood fired hot tub to relax in was the cherry on top! The owner Chris is such a nice guy, he really looked after us and went the extra mile helping us settle in with our 5 month old baby.
Highly recommended, I'd go back in an instant!
Stunning- Owl Valley is a must

Glamping Cabin - Barn Owl CabinJul 2022
Lesley and Chris made us feel very welcome on arrival. Helping us move our luggage from the parking area to our cabin and back again on departure. Whilst we hardly saw them both in between times we knew were they were should we have needed them and their regular changing of ice packs helped keep our food and beers nicely chilled.
Owl Barn Cabin has charm and character in abundance with unique features we immensely enjoyed, were sad to leave and hope to enjoy again soon. Deer, robins, hedgehogs, dragonflies and of course owls (Barn, Tawny and Little by our count) are regular visitors. Spotting whilst we barbecued on the veranda or sat in the wood-fired hot tub. Starlit nights in the hot tub were very special indeed and a great way to soothe tired muscles ready for the next day of exploring the surrounding areas. The cabin was cool on the hottest day of the year and on the veranda was a fresh breeze blowing through the forest.
Beaches and inland forested walks are practically on the doorstep with more of a short drive away. A great selection of restaurants and pubs close by and many places to pick up groceries make this location perfect.
Thanks so much Lesley and Chris, see you next time.
