Formerly known as Hastings Touring Park, Shear Barn is a safe and secure park - ideal for all the family with a choice of defined pitches and modern amenity blocks, as well as lots of space for you and your family to enjoy the great outdoors. Literally on the doorstep there's the rural beauty of the 660 acres of the Hastings Country Park to explore.
About Shear Barn Holidays and Touring
This is one of those sites you might want to keep under wraps. Shear Barn is walking distance (only one mile, to be precise) from the smuggling adventures of St Clements Caves and Hastings Old Town, five minutes' drive from two priceless East Sussex beaches, and 15 minutes' walk to Hastings town for rummaging around at Hastings Castle and the Blue Reef Aquarium. It'll be a hit with the kids, that's for sure. With the site location high on a hill overlooking the Sussex sea and parkland, you'll have superb views all around you too. Even a tipple in the bar is accompanied by English Channel scenery. Closer to ground, there are swathes of well-maintained greenery on site to take advantage of the Hastings sunspot locale - think picnics aplenty. A choice of grass and hardstanding pitches - both with electric if necessary - range in size from 10m sq upwards.
The site normally opens on 1st March and closes on 31st October, though some facilities (bar and restaurant) are open all year round.

Things to do on site and in the Hastings area
The site is moments away from the hundreds of acres of Hastings Country Park, part of the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty - and for those who fancy a stealth visit across the Channel, the ferry services of Dover and Folkestone are around an hour's drive away. Great family days out to London or Brighton are easy without the car too.
St Clements Caves has enough history for at least a couple of films, being used as everything from a gambling house to an air raid shelter, to a smuggling den.
While you're around West Hill, take a trip on one of Hastings's two cliff railways for access to Hastings Castle. The other railway, East Hill Lifts, is the steepest funicular railway in Britain and leads to Hastings Country Park via views over Hastings Old Town and the Stade.
At the seafront, the Hastings Miniature Railway runs to its headquarters Rock-a-Nore, home of the fishermen's museum, the Blue Reef Aquarium and spectacular seafood outlets (try the Essex oysters).
To land some of your own, take a shore, boat or deep sea wreck fishing trip from Hastings or one of the nearby coastal towns.
The shingle beach at Hastings is about 15 minutes' walk from Hastings Touring Park and the sands of St Leonards within five minutes' drive. Both are family-friendly and with easy access to town facilities.
Elsewhere, swimmers should flow towards award-winning Pelham Beach. Watersports fanatics, sunbathers and those with buckets and spades can pick from Bexhill, Camber Sands with its kitesurfing school or peaceful Winchelsea, a shingle beach with sand showing up at low tide.
Hire a bike in Hastings town centre to take advantage of the off-road cycling routes across the Sussex Downs or pedal your way along one of the routes direct from the touring park. The Hastings and St Leonards Cycling Club sets off on a ride most Sunday mornings and can share tips on some of the best routes.
You'll also find downs and cliff walks direct from the site via Hastings Country Park - pick up a site guide at the visitor centre - and several horse-riding schools in the area to see the countryside from high up.
