Tired, in need of an overhaul

No pathway on main road to walk to places. We went at the end of season, so was very quiet. We asked to have a different fully serviced pitch to the one allocated to us, as it was under a very messy tree. The drainage areas were covered in foliage and difficult to use for grey waste, the chemical area is low and could do with updating. The pitches look quite unkept with greenery growing through any hardcore that was there. Also, even though we arrived on a Thursday and there were plenty of pitches empty, I was told (which included some desktop finger tapping), that they could only give me the pitch next door to the original one as they had other people arriving at the weekend (Some of which only stayed the one night). I'm guessing that maybe you can pre book spaces if that's the case and it's not first come first serve? It was a walk to the main, basic, tired and in need of revamping shower/toilet block. The showers had bubbled plaster walls, thick dust on pipe work. The sink cubicle taps took forever to get hot water from and did not stay on for long enough, door that did not lock. The shower was lovely and warm, although the hot water pipe, which is exposed, was exceptionally hot and may be a danger to children if touched. There was a separate, smaller shower block which we only used the once as the toilet did not flush and was even more tired looking than the main block. This was accessed via a small wooded area into the next field which had large animal statues, which was a nice touch to the site for the children. It has a play area next to the clubhouse/swim pool (not used by us so cannot comment), the pool changing area is also the clubhouse toilets, which was extremely tired, no curtain on shower and very drab looking, sliding wooden doors on toilet in need of some care with a basic hook and eye for a lock. In our personal opinion, the whole site needs an overhaul and could be lovely with some care and attention, we will not return there but for somewhere to stop overnight before travelling on its basic and ok 3/10.
Would stay again

Small site, well placed for visiting Somerset. Pitches are decent. Nice little club with pool table and indoor pool. Onsite shop carries the basics. Made very welcome and would use again.

We arrived on a drizzly Monday afternoon and struggled to manoeuvre our car and trailer into allocated spot due to tyres spinning on wet steep incline to pitch. Had brilliant help from two members of staff, a big thank you. The site is clean and quiet. Never did get to use the pool or restaurant facilities so cannot comment. Our stay was enjoyable, made the memories we intended to do. Cheddar Gorge/caves and Weston-Super-Mare, which is only 30mins away from site. We had a full serviced pitch.
Great friendly site, good location

Great site, staff were amazing and friendly. In a good location, just a few minutes drive from Cheddar and Wells. Ideal base for exploring the area. Nice facilities and bonus of having an indoor pool and bar area.

Despite small gripes, I would stay again. The site is nice, entertainment at the club house is good and we went on a weekend when they had a hog roast which was absolutely stunning. The toilet block and washing up facilities were always clean, and has the added bonus of a washer and dryer. The only thing I will say is drying/changing facilities after swimming are not the best. There is one shower that doesn’t have a shower curtain and no changing rooms so no privacy at all and the toilets in the changing room are the club house toilets as well so lots of people back and forth - no privacy which is definitely needed! Depending on where you are the toilet block can be a little bit of a walk. However, that being said, I would stay again if I could request a pitch closer to the toilet block.

Very good value, though some facilities a little tired as might be expected, not a criticism. The staff are extremely helpful, you get the impression nothing is too much to ask for.

Would definitely go back to this site, the kids loved it and enjoyed the swimming pool. Pitches are good sizes, the public areas were clean. Safe environment for children. Great price.

What a wonderful site. Arrived around 19:30 on the Friday, only had to make a call and someone came straight away and booked us in. Explanations of where we would be pitched, and where everything was, was explained very well. Security for the entry was fantastic and there is CCTV around the site, so we felt our belongings were very safe while out on day trips. The club house was lovely, and staff very friendly. Owners were there and happy to chat. Live entertainment on the Saturday night was very good. Great for families, the kids that were there were loving the swimming pool and play area. Not to far from Wookie Hole, Cheddar Gorge or Glastonbury. Will be booking again!

Toilets/showers require updating. Gravel pitch is chunky hardcore - can't stand on it, and it put holes in the matting. Dog friendly site but no where to walk the dog - needs a designated walking area as sited on a very busy road with no footpath. Very clean though so they do their best with what they have got.

Loved this campsite. Lovely facilities on site, beautiful area, staff were very friendly and looked after us well. The perfect stay to charge our physical and metaphorical batteries before a week at Glastonbury. Despite the site being full of Glasto-goers it was very peaceful at night. Lovely view of the Tor and next-to-no sound from the road. Would love to visit again and have recommended to a friend with two kids.

As first time campers, this was a lovely spot for families. We were close to everything and felt very safe to let the children play. It's very close to the Wookey Hole, which is a great day out!
Fine for an overnight, but not much more

Stayed overnight on journey between the Midlands and South West. Firstly, the good things. The pitch was a fair size, and the site was easy to find. Facilities were clean. When we arrived, we were advised that the bar and restaurant were closed on that day. We found this frustrating as we'd booked on the basis on access to on site food and drink, especially as we were hoping to watch an England football match and had seen online that they had been open for previous England games in the Euros tournament. I think it is an overnight of the park to be closed for this game as they would certainly have had customers. The opening of the bar doesn't seem to follow much of a pattern. Something else to note is that there isn't much in terms of local shops or supermarkets within walking distance - your nearest options for anything other than a small convenience store are in Cheddar or Wells. Finally while the toilets and showers were clean, and I note that one block was partly closed for refurbishment and therefore unisex, they felt very dated in terms of their décor, like they'd not had a spruce up in some years. My personal view is that there are nicer sites for campervans and caravans in the area, so would not recommend staying at this site for an extended period of time. That being said, I would visit this site again for an overnight stop if I were aware of the refurbishment of the facilities and that the bar and restaurant were open.

Lovely site, staff very friendly and helpful. Bar and swimming pool lovely. Food excellent. Bath rooms a bit dated but very clean - does say they are being refurbished though so might be better next time. Plenty of information on how to get around. Small shop with the basics. Even though it rained, we had a fantastic time.

Wonderful site, with everything you'd need - electric hook-up, bar with food and entertainment, indoor pool, park (although was less suitable for our 2 year old because of the size of the climbing frame), shop and clean toilets and showers. Great location, within driving distance to interesting activities and places of interest.

Lovely site especially for families, we stayed for 2 nights and found it convenient for Wells and Glastonbury. We would have stayed longer but was travelling to another site near the seaside. Yes, we would use this site again when visiting that area.
Great staff, great stay!

Really great small site with great people, could use a simple lick of paint in a couple of spots, but the site's aware of that and has it planned from what I could see. Lots of little details made it for me, having basically all the equipment in the cabin for cooking was great. Cabin was tidy on arrival, clean basic bedding (don't forget to bring your own). Pool's great, bar's great, the regulars are great.

We enjoyed the site. Well placed and clean. I am sure some people would find fault with certain things but we have booked to go again. Overall a lovely site.
