About Downshay Farm
This family friendly camping and glamping site offers an idyllic, peaceful stay in the stunning Dorset countryside, just ten minutes from Swanage and the coast. Guests can relax and unwind with stunning views over the valley, the Swanage Steam Railway and Corfe Castle. Tent and small campervan campers can pitch up on one of the site's 60 non electric grass pitches, each spread across the slopped camping fields. The site also has 12 electric grass touring pitches (a 25m lead is required), which are suitable for caravans, campervans, motorhomes and trailer tents. The pitches are located on a lawned terrace site spread across three levels with private tarmac access. If glamping is more up your street, then the site also has a bell tent and a shepherd's hut, each offering a little slice of luxury. The Daffodil bell tent sleeps up to four people with a cosy wood double bed and two single camp beds. Inside you will also find electric, a kettle, teas, coffees, sugar and milk. There is a washing up bowl, a torch, crockery, an electric cool box and ice packs. A bed sheet is included and bedding can be provided at an additional cost. Outside the bell tent you will find your own fire pit, BBQ and table and chairs, perfect for evenings of al fresco dining. A camping kitchen including a gas hob, kettle, pots and pans can also be added for an extra charge. The Keepers Hut is a charming shepherd's hut, sleeping two in a comfortable double bed. The hut comes equipped with a kettle, toaster, Tassimo machine, teas, coffees, sugar and milk. There is crockery, glassware, cutlery, an electric cool box, ice packs, washing liquid, hand soap and hand sanitiser. Bedding is provided. You will also have your own fire pit, great for roasting marshmallows under the stars, along with a BBQ, gas hob, pans and a table and chairs outside. There is also room to pitch a tent in the small garden outside for the same rate as the non electric grass pitches. BBQs and raised fire pits are welcome, just no ground campfires. Dogs are allowed, just please ensure they are on a lead.
The campsite is open for 10 days over the late May bank holiday and from mid July-1st September. The caravan site is open from the 1st of April-1st November. Glamping is available for May half term and the summer holidays.

Site rules and policies
Check-in is between 12pm - 8pm.
Check out is by noon on the day of your departure.
Booking is essential.
No noise after 11pm.
All farm buildings are out of bounds.
BBQs and raised fire bowls permitted, no campfires.
All awnings on the caravan site must be breathable due to all grass pitches.
Toilet additives must be organic as the site has a bio-digester sewerage system.
Things to do on site and in the Swanage area
This is an ideal location for the stunning World Heritage Jurassic Coast and all that the beautiful county of Dorset has to offer.
For those wanting to explore on foot. there are paths which run in all directions from the farm, making dog walking and hiking easy.
To see the stunning landscapes from a different perspective, hop on the Swanage Steam Railway which you can pick up at Harmans Cross, less than a ten minute walk from site. Even book a dining or driving experience.
For a day out at the beach, you will also be spoilt for choice. Enjoy a sandy beach at Swanage Bay Beachfront (ten minutes), along with mini golf and an amusement park. Other nearby beaches also include Knoll Beach Studland (25 minutes), Canford Cliffs Beach (45 minutes) and Alum Chine Beach (45 minutes).
The castle at Corfe (five minutes) is within view when on site. A National Trust location, the castle has over a thousand years of history, and with guided tours and a teddy bear zip line, it is a great visit for all of the family.
Dorset Adventure Park (ten minutes) is also perfect for a fun day out. Splash around on the water park, an obstacle course on water, or take on the mud trail, a two kilometer course with over 50 obstacles.
