Things to do on site and in the Colchester area
There is a large play park on site where kids can blow off steam or create a host of imaginary characters and chase them about the countryside. Take the kids out on off-site foot paths, four legged friend in one hand, and explore the incredible Essex countryside.
Colchester Castle is an unmissable sight, dating back to the 11th century and full of spooky interiors, majestic halls and fascinating battle stories. For sensational animal encounters, ranging from the exotic to the down right cute, you'll find it all at Colchester Zoo.
It's not hard to see the marks of Romans here in this ancient area, you'll even find a stretch of their surviving wall and walk the edge of what was once the full extent of Camulodunum.
If you'd like nothing more than to feel the sun on your back and the sea breeze in your hair, make the short drive to Clacton on Sea. Sink down by the sea, play in the waves and take in as much ice cream as you can!
