Alan and Ruth (the owners) were really friendly and hospitable but also let you get on with your own thing when you want to as well. The location is very pretty and quiet, the facilities and amenities were all very modern and clean and the animals are just an added bonus! Can’t wait to come and stay here again!

I had an amazing stay at Hill Farm with my three-year-old daughter, who absolutely adored all the animals. From the moment we arrived, Alan and Ruth made us feel incredibly welcome. The campsite offered so much space and our pitch felt wonderfully secluded, with no one else in sight. The facilities were excellent and spotlessly clean. I highly recommend staying here and can't wait to return—hopefully for a longer stay next time!

An absolutely lovely stay at the farm! Ruth and Alan were so helpful and went out of their way to be hospitable. The campsite was lovely and animals were a super cute addition. Lots of free activities too, like badminton, archery etc. Facilities were good too. Town is an easy, nice walk and The Vine has amazing food. Can't wait to stay next year.

We loved our stay at Hill Farm Camping, which is a really beautiful spot. Allen and Becca were really welcoming and the facilities were perfect for camping with lots of activities. Our two young children didn’t want to leave, they particularly loved the animals and the swing set. Can’t wait to return next year for a longer stay.

The hosts, Ruth and Alan are very accommodating, you receive a warm welcome and rules explained to keep everyone safe including the lovely animals, as some are free range including the amazing emu. They were informative and supported our grandchildren to engage with the animals, including those with SEN. We learnt a lot about different animals they have cared for. The facilities are child and disabled friendly, with a bath, showers and a separate toilet with alexia which was great fun (although I think the visits with the children would have been quicker without it). A couple more toilets and separate showers to save the queues at busy times would be good. The farm has sinks for washing up with a shared fridge and drinking water tap. The hosts had left out basic washing kit and had first aid kits on hand clearly labelled. Games are already set up for anyone to use and we enjoyed time together as a family, having friendly competitions with ourselves and others. The zip-wire and quad bike rides were their favourites and there was loads of room to fly a kite without it hitting a tree. Great location next to the river and being placed at the back of the farm, we had loads of room to set up our home for the weekend without disturbing others. I think the opportunity for a mobile shed with supplies or cooked goods like pizza or jacket potatoes would be a great extra for those who don't want to cook, although we found a lovely fish and chip shop 15 minutes away. The whole farm was clean and tidy, minimal noise from the neighbours as you are spaced out widely and an easy come and go attitude, making you feel part of the community. A lovely get away from the rat race. I would highly recommend it for both couples and families. We were a large party of 19, 3 generations. We didn't want to leave!

We had a wonderful two night stay. The campsite was nice and peaceful with a beautiful view. Ruth and Alan were wonderful hosts. Pitches are very well spaced out. Animals and activities made our stay even more enjoyable. Look forward to visiting again.

Hill Farm was just fantastic. I visited with my 9 year old son and we can't wait to go back. Alan goes above and beyond to look after you, taking you around the site on his quad and trailer which is a thrill and making you feel so welcome. He even gets you involved in feeding his animals if you want to. The site is 18 acres of land to camp on but it's not crowded with a maximum of 18 bookings, so it feels intimate but with plenty of space for each camper to spread out. My son adored the animals, 2 alpacas that roam through the site. You could hear them chomping outside the tent! Also, the emu who loves to be stroked and wallabies and chickens roaming together. Was just lovely to wake to the sound of the cockerel crowing! Washing up area and toilets/ showers very clean also. I'd say this site is very geared to there being decent weather as there's no bar or entertainment or anywhere inside to go if weather is poor, but we were very lucky the 2 nights we spent there. 100% recommend this place.

Great campsite. Love the beautiful views over the farmland and countryside. Easy walk to the village of Great Bardfield which is lovely. The ground is a bit lumpy with holes so you need to watch carefully where you walk. The facilities were fine but sometimes the water was cold in the shower for washing up and loo rolls needed replacing. Very quiet and the size of the pitches are huge so you don't get disturbed by other campers. Loved the animals. We made good friends with Splinter and Jess the Alpacas. Would stay again and recommend. Thank you.
