The Chequers Inn has developed twelve caravan pitches just a few minutes' stroll from its charming country pub. Being only a minute's drive to the village of Rookley, local amenities aren't far, and the site is surrounded by picturesque countryside, with plenty of walking and bike routes.
About The Chequers Inn
The site is located less than a minute to the nearest town and biggest attractions, making it a perfect location for exploring the island - in fact, the setting here is almost central to the entire Island! Facilities for the pitches include a water supply, compost toilet and waste disposal area. Guests can also use the pub facilities during opening hours. It's a laidback vibe welcoming family and dogs, and allows campfires/barbecues too. Roam as far and wide as you wish, safe in the knowledge that eats, and drinks will await back at base. The inn itself is a proper traditional pub that serves up breakfasts, lunches and dinners along with local ales and cool drinks. Food can be delivered to your pitch if you've run out of steam and fancy an easy night in.

Things to do on site and in the Rookley area
The site is nestled in a prime location for walking and cycle tracks. There are four walking routes beginning and ending at The Chequers inn - the Wilderness Wander (3 miles), the Ramsdown Ramble (5 miles) the Chillerton Challenge (9 miles) and the Chequers Circular (3.5 miles).
All of the above routes can lead to other locations around the island, such as the town of Newport. The Isle of Wight is said to have more footpaths per square mile than any other place in the UK. Directions and maps for all the above listed routes can be provided on arrival.
There are beautiful beaches surrounding the island, and the closest to the site is a ten minute drive away.
Take advantage of all the best island attractions, without having to spend hours driving there! Some of the closest include Blackgang Chine, Carisbrooke Castle, Robin Hill, The Owl and Monkey Haven and Amazon World, all within a 15 minute drive.
Further afield, you'll reach Osbourne House, the Isle of Wight Zoo, Dinosaur Isle and the Isle of Wight Steam Railway within a 25 minutes drive.
For budding equestrians, this family pub holds pony rides for children - often throughout school and bank holidays.
