Camp Katur is a family friendly glamping village on the 300 acre Camp Hill Estate set between Ripon and Bedale nestled between two dark sky reserves. The site offers a range of luxury, unique and some off-grid glamping options, some even have hot tubs and ensuites! Little ones will love it with a large playground and bushcraft activities too. About Camp Katur
Located just 15 minutes from Bedale nestled between the North York Moors and the Yorkshire Dales National Parks this glamping village offers a rural escape on the grounds of a 300 acre estate. With luxury, pet-friendly woodland and meadow glamping and extensive play areas it is the perfect spot for a family-friendly getaway. The Chestnut and Hill Farm geodomes are each set on a private decking area with giant windows for stargazing. All are equipped with electric, log burners and ensuites. Towels and bedding are included in your stay. Outside you'll find a fire pit, BBQ and outdoor seating for meals in the open. The ten domes in the Hill Farm area share a kitchen and are set along the forest edge enjoying panoramic views across the Vale of Mowbray. These domes have ensuites and sleep up to four with a double bed and a small sofa bed, ideal for a romantic break or family getaway. There are some slight differences between each, Aurora has an outdoor wood-fired double bath. Equuleus, Hadar, Lepus and Nashira domes all have wood fired hot tubs and Orion, Pegasus, Sirius, Vega and Zavijara don't have a hot tub. Or, if you are looking to be fully self-contained opt for Bellatrix or Cosmo, the Chestnut Hill geodomes. These are 7m in diameter and sleep up to four with a double bed and a mezzanine level with a double bed. Inside is an equipped kitchen, dining area and a window in the roof for stargazing. Outside each is a dining area, great for cooking up a storm and then enjoying a glass of wine whilst watching the sunset from your hot tub. These domes are also only a stone's throw away from the outdoor gym, great for those wanting to fit a workout in! There are a range of other accommodation options onsite including unidomes, other geodomes, bell tents and lodges as well as two communal kitchen areas and a toilet and shower block. Little ones will love playing in the Woodland Kingdom, the Swing Park or, book onto one of the bushcraft activities for an afternoon of den building or wild cookery. There is also a small holding with chickens and sheep. The site is a haven for wildlife so you could just simply spend the day with a picnic spotting what flora and fauna you can see! Get lost along the woodland trails, see if you can find the plane crash site on the estate! Or, if you're looking to venture out of the site the city of York is within an hours drive. Each dome has a fire pit/BBQ as well as a log burner inside, logs are provided. Your canine companion is welcome to join you on your glamping getaway!
Camp Katur is open from 22/03 to 04/11.
All of the glamping domes have ensuite bathrooms, log burners, a BBQ/fire pit and outdoor seating. There are also two fully equipped communal kitchens with gas camping hobs, kettles and seating. The Chestnut Hill domes have equipped kitchens with a fridge, cutlery, an induction hob, kettle and toaster.
There are communal toilets and showers in the glamping village.
For little ones there is the Woodland Kingdom with climbing walls, rope bridges and a wooden fort, as well as a swing park, why not book onto one of the bushcraft experiences? There is also an outdoor gym and a 5km trail for active campers. Or, meet the sheep and chickens on the small holding.
If you need to pick up any supplies for the BBQ there is a Co-op in Bedale 15 minutes away, or for more options, there is a Sainsburys in Ripon which is a 20 minutes drive. Reception offers wine, beer and soft drinks if you forget! If you want to dine out the Black Horse Inn is a 30 minute walk from the site.

Things to do on site and in the Bedale area
There is plenty to keep you occupied whilst staying onsite, there are 300 acres of woodlands and meadows to explore. The woodland has set trails, or you can stray from the paths and have a wander with a picnic. Find the plane crash site and spot wildlife in their natural habitats.
For the more active campers, there is an outdoor gym, or a 5km trail for those wanting to fit a run in! Little ones will have the Swing Park and Woodland Kingdom to keep them occupied with a wooden fort, rope swings and climbing walls.
Or, book onto a bushcraft session run by the Forest Rangers who know flora and fauna on the estate like the back of their hands for a lesson in den building, wild cooking or fire building. These workshops are run every Saturday from March to October.
You'll also be between the North York Moors and the Yorkshire Dales National Parks, great for keen walkers and hikers!
