Yamp Camp Kitts can accommodate small to large groups with both family areas and separate areas for adults. It's a truly beautiful site, set in the heart of unspoilt South Downs countryside, but within easy access of London and the South Coast, along with famous Ashdown Forest. There are extensive footpaths and it's a five minute amble to the local pub. Campfires very welcome.

About Yamp Camp Kitts

The camping ground is set in and around a natural glade. It is a tranquil and totally natural area, which really is very beautiful. The lie of the land and woods to the west mean that the site is very sheltered, even on the windiest of days. Children are obviously very welcome and there is plenty of space for them to enjoy. Well behaved dogs are also welcomed and again, there is an area set aside for them to let off steam as well. All that the site asks is that dogs are kept on a lead and that any calling cards are promptly cleared up and removed.

Open from 1 April to 31 October

Facilities and amenities

Site facilities include a field barn with hot running showers, plus flushing loos, sinks and mirrors in both the gents' and ladies' toilets. There is also a covered outside washing up area with hot water. There are designated areas where children can play football, fly kites and play about, including four swings and woody areas. A designated area is available for dog walking.

- There are no rubbish bins on site and we ask that all rubbish is taken away.

- Please only use existing firepits and we do not allow disposable barbecues. They wreck the grass, make food taste horrible and are bad for the environment!

- Only logs bought from us can be burnt in our firepits. You cannot bring your own and must not forage for it in the adjoining woods.

Take a walk to the famous Bluebell Railway where you can see steam trains and take a ride! There are also many more attractions available to those who are willing to travel a little further.

There is the beautiful county town of Lewes, a short drive away, with its eclectic range of craft and country shops. In the other direction lies Haywards Heath, for what should probably be described as a more modern shopping experience.

Ashdown Forest and Pooh Bridge, along with the magnificent South Downs, are also close and there are numerous gardens either temporarily or, like Borde Hill for example, permanently open to the public. Sheffield Park is also a beautiful area to visit, nearly opposite the Bluebell Railway, which is fabulous for all ages.

Make sure to check out the local farm shops, Townings Farm is a short drive away which sells spectacular food, great for a BBQ!

On a sunny day, hire a boat at Barcombe Mills, next to the Anchor Pub, and row your way down the River Ouse.
