Situated between Hastings and Battle, this small, independent camping and glamping site is an ideal, adult only getaway. The site offers only five grass tent pitches spread out over two acres, along with two unfurnished bell tents for glamping. Nestled on a working smallholding, the site is home to chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys, beehives, pet horses, with eggs and honey typically available to be purchased from the onsite honest box!

This is a basic campsite which is reasonably priced and with good, clean composing toilets and running water We were the only people there on the Friday night of the bank holiday weekend and there were only two other tents there on the Saturday night. The campsite is pretty close to a busy A road which isn't ideal if you're noise sensitive as there is some traffic noise at night - but it's not terrible and I happily slept through it. There's a pylon in the field, so it's not the most scenic but it's a pretty big field, so you can get quite a distance from it. No showers but the composting toilets were nice and clean. It was really nice to have lots of space in the field and not be crammed in with loads of other tents. It's a great location in terms of getting to Hastings/Battle and Rye really easily. The best thing about it is that it's just over the road from The Black Horse pub which is a really lovely pub that was super welcoming and served some really good food and had a nice selection of drinks and generally a lovely atmosphere.
Wonderfully simple

Minimalist and as described. There are not many facilities as is clearly explained. I have given a 5 as the facilities that are there (compost loo & tap) are clean and work well. Do pay attention to the directions to the site so you don't have to reverse down a single track lane like we did - entirely own own fault. Thankfully we were spotted by the site owner who called to redirect us. The local cricket club was lively, but a pleasant & early closing kind of lively. We enjoyed the food in the traditional pub across the road and met the pub cat, a plus for me less so my partner. There is a pylon in the field. It didn't bother us at all. It is an adult only site, so you will be spared the horror of a child trying to climb it. (Youngsters will be unaware of the brilliant but brutal UK public safety short on exactly this topic). Plain and simple camping with mown pitches. A great location for exploring the South coast.
Beautiful site, sunset and space

We had SUCH a lovely time at Hastings 1066 glamping/camping site. We visited the local pub and had the most delish meal. Met the owner of the site, who recommended things to do, and was super helpful. Only thing to make it better would be a shower. The compost toilets were wonderful and so environmentally friendly. We met the horses and the furry fat cat at the local pub too! x
A great night out!

A well located and friendly campsite for a quick getaway. As described in the description, the facilities are basic but very clean and well maintained with a small honesty shop. I was passing through so only stayed one night. As I missed the entrance, called the owner who was extremely helpful, friendly and relaxed. Also gave me some great tips on places to visit in the area. Would definitely recommend and stay again. The negatives? Perhaps clearer signage for the entrance (sat nav was saying it was on the same side as the pub-it's not!).The pitch I chose was very close to the main road but the traffic did calm down during the night.
Great spot

Great price, great spot. It was the weather that pushed us out, so we didnt get to experience the pub across the road, but have heard good things!
Will certainly return <3

What a lovely campsite! Our bell tent was beautiful, comfy and fully equipped overlooking a paddock with two cute horses. Drew was a brilliant host and super responsive. Will certainly return-thanks for having us!

The location of the campsite is great - just a 15 minute drive to the coast. Drew was quick to respond and accommodating of our changing arrival times (due to being on the beach!). He's a lovely bloke who made sure we were settled in properly. We stayed for just one night in the furnished bell tent. We didn't realise when we booked that it came with everything you need to enjoy a self-catered stay: table + chairs, single camping gas ring, kettle, crockery and cutlery and even tea + coffee. As an added bonus they took care of the washing up too! The site is small, but as it is adults only and limited to 10 pitches, it is quiet. There is plenty of space and it is apparent from the trees and growth that the owners intend to further develop a sense of privacy when the foliage grows long. The site has two compost toilets and water taps and an honesty shop with essentials. The flat field (ideal for lawn games) caught the sun for a long time and the sunset was lovely. We were blessed with a clear sky too so enjoyed star gazing. I saw the electricity pylon in the photos and thought it was a bit menacing, but it is actually really cool up close! Lovely, peaceful stay which is just what we needed. Amazing value. We will be returning.

We had an amazing stay, the campsite was beautiful. Really friendly helpful hosts with good advice about the local area. Composting toilets were a first for us but they were clean and the host took time to make sure we knew how they worked. The tent was lovely, loads of space, three different bed size options and an outside gas hob, pots and pans, plates, cups and cutlery provided. The fire pit and fire wood provided was great and outdoor furniture to sit by the fire was all nice. Animals in the field next door, which was fun (had an early wake up call from a cockerel!), and quite near to some lovely beaches, town and a pub just down the road! Would recommend taking a good camping light! We would definitely stay again. Would be a great place to go as a group of friends.
