About Fernwood Glamping
This peaceful site is located just outside the traditional New Forest market town of Ringwood. Guests will be thrilled with the space for their children to play and enjoy watching the buzzards making lazy circles in the sky, seeing deer in the field and hearing the many birds in the trees - from woodpeckers in the day to owls at night. Spaced over 25 meters apart, the shepherd's hut and gypsy van are perfect for two and will also sleep two young children (up to age 10). The accommodation is some distance from the main house and looks out over the fields, well away from the crowds and with a much higher degree of privacy than on a regular campsite. Each unit has a small wood burner, which will have you toasty warm in a few minutes and keep you cosy even after you let it die down. A basket of wood is provided for you to use with the wood burner indoors. The shepherd's hut has a mini-fridge and kettle and a large picnic bench outside. The gypsy van uses a nearby thatched summer house (with tea/coffee making facilities) with decking overlooking the pond. Both the gypsy van and the shepherd's hut have their own compost toilet nearby (as well as use of a shared flush toilet and electric shower up near the house). You may want to enjoy the sunset with a glass of wine and a BBQ - perhaps even toasting a marshmallow or two on the fire pit or chiminea outside (pick up an extra basket for a small fee on site, which should last 1-2 evenings). Whilst there is an electric socket for charging devices, lighting is provided by fairy lights, tea lights, lanterns and a torch. Bedding and towels are provided for the double beds, with a sleeping bag with an integral pillow for younger guests. Please note, access to the gypsy van is via steep stairs with a climb required to get into the top double bed. A continental breakfast hamper can be ordered in advance as an optional extra, which includes cereals, warm bread rolls and muffins, jam, fresh fruit and yoghurt, milk and juice. This will be brought out to the hut/summer house in the morning. It is a memorable place to stay with children (best suited for ages 4-10 due to bed length). If you have younger children, please note there is a hot wood burner, high tree house and unfenced pond. The owners guarantee a friendly welcome and will do anything to make your stay more enjoyable. Sorry, no dogs. Fernwood Glamping has previously been selected for the addition of Bradts Slow Travel Guide for The New Forest.
The Shepherd's hut is available from March to December. The Gypsy van from 15th March to the end of September.

Things to do on site and in the Ringwood area
The site is just a minute from the A31 which takes you into Southampton or to Bournemouth and Poole (with popular sandy beaches and cinemas). From the centre of Ringwood (30 minutes walk) it's easy to access the main cities in the area by bus. Alternatively, buses leave every 20 minutes from the bottom of the hill.
The market town of Ringwood is on the edge of the New Forest and retains much of its original character. Every Wednesday the marketplace is blocked off for the traditional street market, and every evening it is buzzing with people, for meals out and drinks in the pub. During the daytime, there are plenty of small and unique shops to browse, and plenty of coffee shops too.
Ringwood is also on the Avon Valley Path, a 34-mile route across fields and footpaths across the forest and alongside the beautiful River Avon that takes you from Salisbury Cathedral to Christchurch Priory.
The Castleman trail also runs along an old railway track with sections open near Burley and again from Ringwood, through Moors Valley Country Park and on to Poole.
There are lots of family friendly attractions and things to do nearby including:
- Owl Raptor and Reptile Centre (5 minutes)
- Blashford Lakes Wildlife Reserve (10 minutes)
- Avon Heath Country Park (10 minutes)
- The New Forest Water Park (10 minutes)
- Go Ape Moors Valley (15 minutes)
