Things to do on site and in the Dorchester area
A usual day on the farm would be to meet up at the farmhouse and go with Farmer Tom to feed the animals. The site have a flock of some 700 breeding ewes so there are always orphan lambs which need feeding both day and night as well as some of the cows and pigs.
The site is home to a flock of sheep, herd of cattle as well as pigs, dogs, cats, ponies and chickens. Children are encouraged to meet the animals and help Farmer Tom on his daily feeding rounds. There is plenty of space for children to play and use their imagination, stripping the confines of tech away.
Once the animals have been fed, the children normally take the breakfast rolls back to mum and dad in the tents before getting ready to go out. There are also mini landrovers for the little ones to have a go at driving. There is also a seasonal maize maze to run about.
Due to the location, many visitors use this as a base to explore Dorset. Dorchester town is less than 5 minutes away with Weymouth just seven miles due south. There are also beautiful market towns of Bridport, Sherborne, Blandford etc within easy driving distance. The famous Jurassic coastline is also always close by for a bit of fossil hunting with museums to visit.
Other attractions include:
- Dorset County Museum
- Maiden Castle
- Athelhampton House and Gardens
- Kingston Maurward House
- Jurassic Coast
- Weymouth beach and lots of other harder to find beaches
