VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Campervan PitchesOct 2024

We were delighted with our booking as it was the end of the season. We were the only ones on site and it was lovely. The location is great, walkable to Totnes. It is a country walk. The facilities are fab, so many things have been thought of. There are two lovely pubs within a short country walk and the llamas are very cute. We would like to thank our hosts for making our first trip away in our van so specialšŸ˜

Tipi or Wigwam - Tipi TentsAug 2024

Gatcombe Park Farm was absolutely lovely. It was easy enough to find, and the tipi we stayed in was gorgeous. The bathrooms were great & clean, and the little kitchen area was incredibly helpful. Even when we wanted a bit more firewood, Phil was kind enough to bring it over on short notice. Also Toby, the farm dog, was a highlight for my husband. Would definitely recommend, and may even stop again one day!

Amazing stay at Gatcombe Park Farm - highly recommend!

Tipi or Wigwam - Tipi TentsAug 2024

We had the most fantastic 3-night stay at Gatcombe Park Farm in August, and I canā€™t rave enough about it! We stayed in one of the tipis, and it was absolutely stunning. Waking up to the views of the farm, especially during sunrise, was such a peaceful and beautiful experience. The outdoor kitchen area was a game-changer ā€“ fully equipped with a microwave, toaster, little cooker, fridge freezer, and even a dining table. It made our camping experience so much more convenient. The bathrooms were also a pleasant surprise, super clean and well-maintained. One of the highlights of our stay was Phil, who kindly brought us firewood free of charge. Such a thoughtful touch! The farm animals, especially the alpacas, peacocks, and chickens, added so much charm to the place. Watching them roam around the farm was a delight, and you can even buy fresh eggs ā€“ a perfect touch for breakfast. The only suggestion Iā€™d make is maybe adding a sign for the luxury shower and bathroom to remind people itā€™s available after 9:30 AM. A few campers were using it earlier, so we had to wait a bit. But honestly, thatā€™s a minor thing compared to everything else. Overall, if youā€™re looking for a relaxing, nature-filled getaway with amazing views, lovely animals, and great facilities, Gatcombe Park Farm is the perfect spot. Weā€™ll definitely be back and highly recommend it to anyone looking to camp in style!

Idyllic, apart from the road

Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent PitchesJul 2024

We stayed here for two nights in July, it's a lovely campsite with nice views and farm animals including alpacas to entertain you. The facilities (bathroom, toilet, kitchen) are excellent and clean. The pitches are reasonably sized although for a tent capacity greater than 4 you may stick out a bit - this didn't seem to be a problem though. The location has its advantages and disadvantages - it is a nice 30 minute walk into Totnes, and also has a couple of pubs within walking distance (we went to the Pig and Whistle and the food was fantastic - good portion sizes and really tasty). However, you do have to cross a fairly nerve-wracking A-road on a bend immediately outside the campsite to walk to Totnes. On that note, the campsite is right next to the A-road so the quiet of the countryside is punctuated by moderately loud traffic. Overall, I really enjoyed staying at Gatcombe and would recommend it, so long as you're not looking for the last word in peace and quiet.

We loved our stay here

Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent PitchesJun 2023

We were meeting family in Torquay so needed a campsite near, we happened to come upon it when searching, and so glad that we did. We were greeted by the owner, a lovely young man, he showed us where we were to pitch our tent, then showed us the facilities. The bathroom was very quirky, a free-standing bath with a shower then also a long sink. There was hand soap and plenty of loo roll. There was an outdoor kitchen which the owner had made, it had a microwave, toaster and a little cooker. It also had a fridge freezer and a dining table. We purchased some fresh eggs and had them for breakfast. There were 3 tipis on site also, which we were allowed to see. There are Alpacas, Peacocks, Chickens, Cockerels, and 2 beautiful dogs. We will definitely be coming back to this amazing place, which is only 20 minutes from Torquay. Thank you for a fabulous weekend xxx

Sprinter-Type Campervan - Non Electric Campervan PitchesJun 2023

Brilliant site, so close to Totnes. There's a great pub (Tally Ho) under 10 minutes walk. Great views. The facilities are basic but very clean and easy to use - the shower was great. The Alpacas stole our hearts and it was a pleasurable experience all round. No negatives whatsoever.

Site's response

Thank you for your kind review. Just so you're aware next time, as I think you missed it, there is a lovely, luxury shower and toilet room available after 9.30am once the tipi tents have finished. This was all in the welcome pack and email I sent you and as the tipis were not used on your stay- you had full use at any time. You were using the extra camping shower.

Great stay

VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Grass Tent PitchesAug 2022

A really lovely campsite that's got loads of space around each pitch - the owners do not cram people in - far from it - they only hire out a few pitches so it really does feel very spacious. There's a good amount of privacy too plus a proper (and clean) toilet and hot shower. The friendly owners were great. A really nice vibe, and lots of little touches that make for a really nice experience (hand wash and dishwashing liquid by the sink and wheelbarrows to get your gear to your pitch) and a couple of fields for alpacas! Our friends stayed in one of the shepherds huts which was very nice - theirs had a lovely terrace that overlooked a fab view and the sunset, parking right outside, a big picnic bench outside, fire pit. You can buy good quality wood from the owners. It's an 8 min drive walk to a sweet pub called the Tally Ho. Really fab long weekend, we will be back. Thank you!

Glamping Cabin - Showman's WagonJul 2022

The location of the site is very convenient for Totnes and is situated among fields and a rugged pathway that leads to the beautiful village of Littlehempston. The village had a fantastic, perfect country pub called The Tally-ho, which has a very tasty menu. It's a shame the site is on the main road, but it's quiet at night. I felt very safe as a lone female and the showman's cabin was great, although the Wifi is very dodgy and trying to watch anything on iPlayer was impossible. The coffee machine is a bit of a pain to use but the shower was fine and it's brilliant to have a toilet block so close to the cabin. The huge parasol blocks the view of the lovely rolling fields when you're having your breakfast (I guess putting it up would alleviate that but still). Proprietors are very nice and helpful. I would definitely stay again.

Site's response

Thank you for your review, we are glad you enjoyed your stay here with us. Shame you didn't mention the little issues you had whilst here. The free wifi provided is generally fine, we are on site and would have been happy to have helped. The coffee machine is rather basic and the instructions are there with it. You just pop in one of the courtesy pods left for you and press go, so I'm not sure why it was being a pain for you, sorry about that. I'll keep an eye on it though, and I am glad you managed to make one in the end :) I wouldn't say the parasol provided for you is huge, it's a small one and simply winds up and down when you need a bit of shade from the sun. It can lifted out and moved and there is a note asking you to remember winding it down when you have finished with it to prevent any wind damage. Having just looked, I don't feel it is blocking any views even when up but I will ask future guests their views though, just to be sure. We look forward to seeing you again.

VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Grass Tent PitchesJun 2022

Really friendly and helpful campsite owners who were keen to make our stay a really positive one. The most beautiful bathroom in a campsite I have ever seen! The alpacas were so sweet too and we were camping right by them, which was fascinating. Very convenient location within walking distance of Totnes down a green lane if you want to leave your car behind and very very close to a couple of pubs. Beautiful location. A little road noise but didn't spoil the experience of staying there.

VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Grass Tent PitchesJun 2022

Our stay at the farm was great, and being able to see the alpacas in the adjacent field was amazing and really made the stay special. The owners are really friendly and welcoming, and the location is good and pretty central for South Devon - its only a 5 minute drive to Totnes. One thing to note, is that it is a small campsite with only 2 toilets and showers, which got pretty busy during our stay even though the site was only 1/3 full.

Site's response

Hi Zoe Thank you for your feedback. We are happy you enjoyed your stay here with us and the alpacas. Sorry you had to wait for a shower at times, we are as you say a small campsite, though we were actually fully booked not 1/3 full. We keep it that way so that everyone can enjoy the space. It would never be busier as we only open to ten pitches at a time, so the two hot showers are generally sufficient for this size. But it is something we will keep an eye on.

Excellent!
