Exeter View Stables is a peaceful, off-grid site in Devon with panoramic country views, just 5-minutes away from Exeter. Complete with eco-facilities, the spacious grass pitches are suitable for tents and campervans. There is a retro glamping option available too. With the city and Dartmoor National Park nearby, you'll have plenty to do. In the evenings, watch the sunset over the Devon hills as you sit by the communal firepit. A little haven.

A really convenient site for the city with it being only a short drive away. A nice spot too.

We booked for 1 night whilst in Devon with my husband, our four children (aged between 8 and 15) and two dogs. Location, wow, the location is brilliant and the views are stunning! The sunset and sunrise was picturesque. The facilities, by far has the best toilets we have ever used/seen on a campsite, very clean and well maintained. They have showers which have hot running water, a wash up area for dishes/clothes and a cute old phone box which has been made into a nook of goodies where you can buy eggs, fire wood, necessities, as well as borrowing books & games. There is a fire pit with surrounding seating for all to use, as well as a tree swing and plenty of benches to use dotted around. Our pitch, the ground was nice and flat, making it perfect for pitching and there was plenty of space between pitches. We had an 8 man bell tent, as well as our 7 seater parked next to our tent, with plenty of room between. Cleanliness, the site is very well maintained and very clean. They also have recycling bins there. The only downside, which isn't the camp's fault is the pylon. Definitely a bargain for what you get and we would definitely stay again for a peaceful break.

Had a lovely stay here visiting family in Exeter. Great ride down into town through the back lanes.

Great campsite on the rolling hills just outside Exeter. Was very remote and peaceful, but still good phone reception. The welcome was warm and friendly and the facilities as advertised. The showers were clean and had good hot water pressure. The loos are composting and do have an odour that you would associate with this kind of toilet. The only real downside for me was the the electricity pylon that goes across the site and does make a humming noise.
Small or not clearly marked plots

We were hoping for spacious plots. When we went to bed the first night, that was true. However, not sure what the time was, but guess 23:00, a van arrived and set up within a metre of our awning. Maybe it was due to there not being any clear demarcation of the plots, but after that, we certainly did not have a spacious plot. Facilities are basic but okay. However, no hot water to wash up with is a bit disappointing.
Wonderful views but rudimentary facilities and difficult to access

Site has wonderful views across Exeter and the Exe Valley. However, the site is pretty rudimentary. Accessed down a very narrow lane then up a steep rough gravel track. Would not be doable for many larger vehicles and caravans. Pitches are just based grass in a field with no hook up. Toilets are composting ones with sawdust. Loo paper should be put into a bin. Whilst all of this may be what some people want, it was not for us.
Site's response
We're sorry the site was not what you expected. We are advertised as an off grid campsite and as we are 100% solar, we cannot provide hook ups. We do not accept large motorhomes or caravans due to the access.

Great location, set on a hillside. Nice & quiet. Very helpful staff who lent me some milk for tea, which was much appreciated after a hard ride on my bike. Only downside was that showers were cold for some reason. But would definitely use again.

Me and my fiancé stayed here for one night, we were super impressed with the location and the view is spectacular! Literally took us 8 minutes to drive into the centre of Exeter, and the staff were super helpful and friendly, they even helped us to blow up our air bed. Highly recommend for a cheap stay near the city 🙂
Great stay!

Great campsite. Quiet, great location and the facilities were great. The views over Exeter and the hills really topped it off. Loved it.

I was pleasantly surprised by this site, which is located right on a high hill overlooking Exeter city. The Sat-Nav actually did its job and I only had to ask the exact place once down Rowhorne Road. The access is steep and slow but the view from the top is fantastic. The wardens here have gone to a lot of trouble to keep this site environmentally positive, so solar power runs the water and some power. Toilets are organic (so don't look down when seated!) - everything that goes in is biodegradable. I was told that a walk down to the city takes 45 mins. If it's hot, take a bus at the bottom of the hill into the city. Had 2 nights camping here and enjoyed the friendly atmosphere that you don't get with a huge site. Go for it!

A small campsite without crowds is something I am always looking for. A wonderful place and worth recommending :) Unfortunately, not all guests obey the rules of silence. Specifically, I mean parents with children. I did not want to complain and create a gloomy atmosphere (I write this in relation to parents with children). Owners are really nice people. One minus- a frequent lack of toilet paper, so you need to have yours. I recommend highly!
Friendly and peaceful

A small site at the top of a steep hill. Off grid and composting loos. USB charging available. Fire pits available. Good showers. Great views down the hills. There are electricity pylons close by and on the site, but everything else is a plus. Lovely people running the site and it's a peaceful getaway. Walking into Exeter centre takes about 40 mins.
