Whitemoor Camping sits on a small hill in North Devon overlooking the beautiful Taw Valley, a 15-minute walk from Bishop's Tawton. This small and relaxed site offers grass and sand pitches for tents and tourers alongside a bell tent and great facilities, such as a shared fridge and charging points. The site is 25 minutes from Exmoor National Park and the coast, including Saunton Sands and Croyde Bay, and is the closest site to the Tarka Trail!

We were very happy with the campsite. It was quiet, immaculately clean and we were made to feel very welcome. It was very well situated for sightseeing the many wonderful beaches and we intend to return soon.

Very nice, clean and quiet site. Host was friendly and suggested a pitch that would be better for my stay. Very convenient location and would stay again. Nice pub 10 minutes walk away in the village

Fantastic place and owners. The only thing I would change would be toilets nearer the van park if possible as it's a fair walk in the night if you need the loo. Great site though, will be going back for sure.
Lovely site, back to nature!

We stayed for 1 night and we were lucky to have had good weather, during an inconsistent time. Good facilities, also use of fire pit and wood to purchase.
Awful for tents. Overpriced. Good clean toilets and showers

Lovely area. Nice clean toilets and showers. Use of fridge and freezer too which was handy. However, the campsite is on quite a slope. The flattest pitch was quite lumpy. Come mornings, we had all slid into one side of the tent. Good job we are a close family. Advertised as being 'easy access to Tarka Trail' which is true one way but not the other as the campsite is at the top of a long steep hill. I suppose all this could be overlooked if it was cheap but at £40 a night, we were expecting more. Sorry.
Site's response
Hi Tom, Thanks for you comments and we were sorry to learn that your experience didn't meet our high-level Camper satisfaction standard and indeed yours. 1. When you arrived you were given an option of places to pitch. Whilst some have a slight slope, others don't, and as we weren't very busy you were free to choose your pitch. I'm sorry if this led to you 'sliding into one side of the tent' - it's not a comment we have had from campers before. 2. Whitemoor is the nearest Campsite to the Tarka Trail as it passes though Barnstaple. We have many cyclist and walkers who are travelling the Trail and National Cycleway 3, camp with us each season who seek us out for that reason. We are only 1/2 mile away from the off-road trails that lead you directly to the Tarka Trail. Whilst our camp site sits up a 250m lane above the village, you gain the downhill when you return the next day! This is all part of the unique topography of North Devon for those who aren't familiar with it and hope you wont be deterred from visiting the area again.

A really peaceful campsite in a beautiful location. The showers and toilets were always really clean and the charging points were a big bonus - as was the fridge and freezer access. The site does slope, but we didn't find it to be a problem at all. There are benches provided for sitting away from your tent, which was a nice touch, and the family dogs popped over to say hello from time to time. Barnstaple is a short drive away if you want shops etc. or to go out for dinner. The clear night skies were a real highlight for us, with more stars than you could count! We would definitely stay here again.
