About Oak and Stars Hideaway

This quiet and romantic shepherd's hut is set in the Southern Pennines, ten minutes from the Peak District National Park. An ideal location for walking, cycling and exploring, you will be only a five minute drive to Honley for strolls through the quaint streets, along with plenty of shops and restaurants to enjoy. With just one shepherd's hut, the site feels truly secluded and off the beaten track, accessible only from a small path off of a quiet lane. Inside, there is a fully equipped kitchen with a fridge, oven and an electric hob. There is also a kettle and a coffee machine for your morning brew! There is a comfy double bed, with linen provided, that can fold away into a dining area with seating. There is also a wood burner to keep guests cosy in the evenings. The modern ensuite features an electric shower, a flushing loo and wash basin, plus towels are provided. Outside is a fire pit, a dining area, a terrace with a garden and a wood-fired hot tub, perfect for al fresco dining and soaking in the lovely views. The first bag of logs for the hot tub is provided for free. On the edge of West Yorkshire and just outside the Peaks, there is lots to do around the site. Immerse yourselves in nature and take romantic strolls or bring your bikes and head out on an adventure! Within a 15 minute walk of the local farm shop and country pub, guests can truly enjoy a taste of rural life. Sorry, no pets allowed.

The shepherd's hut has an ensuite with an electric shower, flushing loo and wash basin. It also has a fully equipped kitchenette with a sink, a fridge, an oven, an electric hob, a coffee machine and a kettle. There are plug sockets in the hut as well as a radio and free WiFi.

The nearest shop to is Hinchliffe's Farm shop, just a 15 minute walk away, there is also the Waingate Superstore for a wider selection a 30 minute walk away. The Allied pub is just a 15 minute walk from site.

You can check in from 3pm until 10pm, and check out is due at 10:30am.

Dogs must be kept on the lead at all times and not left unattended. Breeds and crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act are not permitted and/or any of the following: Staffordshire bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, Rottweiler, any Mastiff or Tosa.

Yes! BBQs are allowed as long as they are raised from the ground. Fuel, logs and coal can be purchased onsite. Guests are not permitted to bring their own barbeque.

Only ten minutes outside of the Peak District, the shepherd's hut is within reach of some great walking and cycling routes. Visit the Folly Dolly Falls and watch in awe at the tranquil waterfall, or hike around the Wessenden Reservoir (30 minutes) or Black Hill (20 minutes). Take a trip to the Holme Moss Summit (20 minutes) for breathtaking views and a great romantic picnic spot!

Spend a day in Huddersfield, only 15 minutes from the site to explore the birthplace of the rugby league! Or, stroll down the historic cobbled streets of Honley with a range of shops for some retail therapy or visit one of the local eateries for some great food.
