Tucked away and very remote and quiet. Some chickens walking about which amuses the kids. Recommend early nights as the cockerels will wake you. Plenty of space to spread out. Good clean facilities. Finding the pitches tricky as not sign posted or informed until got there the site was behind a closed gate. Location great to get to anywhere you want to visit locally.

I had recently purchased a RTT and needed to try it out. Was also my first solo camping experience. I could not have wished for more. Peaceful, quiet, at one with nature, far away from any main road. A proper little safe haven. The hosts were wonderful, introduced themselves on arrival. The toilet and shower facilities were very clean and plenty of hot water. Was delightful having a decent shower. Lovely little touch, was at night the bushes lit up with little fairy lights. Was just magical. I didn't venture out walking to the lakes or sea wall, as it was very hot. I found it very pleasant just sitting, relaxing and reading my book. I will definitely be going back and I will happily recommend this little gem to my friends and family. Who would've thought this place was 30 minutes away from where I live. Value for money most definitely.

Wonderful location! Secluded and peaceful. The facilities were the cleanest I've ever seen and they had a pet Jackdaw who came to say hello to us. Easy arrival and less than fifteen minute drive from Brightlingsea and Colchester. A beautiful church ruin nearby too. Highly recommend.

Me, my friend and two kids stayed here only for one night but wish we'd had longer. This is such a peaceful and beautiful place, lots of wildlife and the facilities were lovely and clean. Would 100% recommend and we will definitely be coming back.

I visited Plumptons in my little campervan, along with three other friends in theirs, and am delighted to have discovered this little gem of a campsite, only 15 minutes from my home. The perfect getaway in an idyllic location. Erica and Josh and their family, including their lovely trio of dogs and pigmy goats, were delightful hosts and immediately made us feel welcome. The walks from the camping fields are many and diverse; around the site and lakes and down to the estuary. My van proved to be quite the little bird hide in this perfect countryside setting! The recently added little block with a toilet one side and a perfect shower on the other was just right. Peaceful, welcoming and relaxing. I wish Erica and Josh every success with their continuing venture for this lovely location. I will be back and, next time, will bring a life jacket so that I can have a swim in that lovely 'blue lagoon'!

Absolutely stunning surroundings and beautiful lakes. Very calm and peaceful. Erica is lovely and very friendly, she even has a pet goat called Betty who is just the cutest thing, Betty even came into our tent to keep out of the rain for while. Plumptons Farm is the loveliest site we have stayed at and will definitely be back.

Owner was so helpful and a genuinely lovely person, made our experience so relaxed, like we were really taken care of. Right in the middle of nature, chickens, cows and a cute goat too! Many footpaths around for long walks. We stayed only for one night as a getaway for mine and my other half's anniversary, such a memorable time. Thank you for having us we will hopefully return soon!

What a little gem this campsite is. As you come through the gates you catch a beautiful view of the swimming lake. A small track then takes you through greenery and lots of open space, passing the two fishing lakes. Further down the track is the camping field with a newly built toilet and shower. Across from the camping field are the three lodges that the owners kindly showed me. They have been finished and decorated perfectly. The owners are a lovely couple who are extremely helpful. I was delighted to meet Betty, the pet goat who loves being stroked. I had a peaceful couple of nights with wonderful walks. I will definitely be back again.

Lovely farm site, just outside Brightlingsea, a beautiful area. Friendly hosts (and pygmy goats!) and made to feel welcome. Plenty of walks to explore (map link to pathways provided) and a great little pub, The Pointer, about half an hours brisk walk away :) Toilet and shower on site. Would stay again.

Beautiful location. Amazing views and lakes. Erica and Josh are so kind and welcoming, we felt really at home. There is a new toilet and shower facility that was brilliant to have. So glad I found this place.

A lovely little campsite in the middle of nowhere, perfect for getting away from everything. They have a recently built toilet/shower block, which was very clean and had lots of space for changing as well. You can pick your own spot, the ground is level and there were fairy lights in the trees. I met Erica, who was absolutely lovely, along with both dogs and a Pygmy goat! Would highly highly recommend for anybody, and I wish Erica and Josh the best of luck for their future endeavours!

We loved this place and are full of admiration for what Josh and Erica are working to achieve. The field is large and well mown with a pretty wild bit in the middle. It caters for six campers/tents so there is plenty of space for everyone. The views are lovely. There is a new shower and loo block (1 of each), which was an unexpected bonus (though we didn't use the shower). All in all, a great find and we wish them luck!

Lovely place, was greeted on arrival by a very friendly lady and her pet goat! Had the whole site to ourselves which was lovely. No light pollution so could see the stars, fairy lights on the bushes made the atmosphere very wholesome and lovely.

What wonderful hosts Erica and Josh were! They made sure that we was okay many times during our stay on their beautiful farm. The camping area is a field with a portaloo on site and a water tap. The surrounding area is great for walks. Josh and Erica kindly allowed us to paddle board in their crystal clear water lake. Their farm is huge, so you can wander for hours. Had an awesome break from reality! Will definitely be back and would highly recommend. Thank you!

What a gem of a site. Off the beaten track in a peaceful and tranquil setting with lots of walks and wildlife. We went paddle boarding and kayaking but I would only recommend it when the tide is in, otherwise you'll be contending with mud. We had a lovely walk along the sea wall in the evening. The only disappointment was the portaloo, thank goodness we were in a caravan. I only wish this site wasn't just open at weekends in the summer, so we could come for longer.

Peaceful, at one with nature, near the sea and being woken by Cockerell's. Such a lovely spot, near a beautiful lake and in sight of the movements of a farm. Can't put a price on this tranquillity.

This campsite really is the ideal off grid retreat for anyone looking to get out in the countryside. Situated on a working farm, the campsite is clean, well-kept and surrounded in acres of farmland. After driving down the long driveway track, we arrived in the camp field with lots of room to manoeuvre our car and caravan and soon got to work making camp. We had two pitches, one with a tent and one a caravan. The owners are super friendly, and we got offered fresh eggs on our first morning, which is a nice touch. There are lots of walks nearby if that's your thing. Whilst there are not any mains hook up or shower facilities available onsite, that is not something that bothered us. There is a water point for filling water containers and a very clean port-a-loo which was cleaned regularly. Brightlingsea is only a 10-minute drive away and has lots to offer including a Lido, which was lovely to cool off in! Colchester is 15 minutes' drive away and has lots to offer as well including a spa, swimming pool, famous castle, and an award-winning zoo. This campsite is perfect for those who want to explore or just chill out and sunbathe! On a clear night you can see thousands of amazing stars in the sky! We would most definitely recommend this campsite to our friends and family!

We have found a campsite which is value for money, with beautiful countryside run by pleasant owners, who were on hand if you needed them and were also happy to leave us to our own pleasures. The field was kept to a high standard with areas for the wildlife to thrive. We walked approx 3 miles to Wivenhoe alongside Arlesford creek and the River Colne, seeing different birds as we went and many blackberries to pick, we have enough for 2 pies. We hope to return next year.
