On the Isle of Purbeck, Woodyhyde Campsite is a stone's throw away from Dorset's famed Jurassic Coast, Swanage and Corfe Castle. Guests can choose from electric or non-electric grass pitches, as well as hardstanding pitches ideal for tents, campervans, and motorhomes. And the best part? You can pitch up wherever you want! If you love the outdoors but aren't keen on canvas, there's the option of fantastic yurts or the shepherd's hut too.

Lovely location, especially the Swanage steam line running by! Paying extra for showers a bit disappointing but overall, very pleasant stay and nice you can choose your own pitch in 3 different areas.
Great site for money

It's a lovely site with washing facilities and tokens (50p) for showers. I probably chose the wrong spot as I was located very near a large group of lads who played music until late. The shop is great and well stocked and staff lovely.

Location. It's directly off the main road, easy access. No mention that you'll need to pull in your wing mirrors as you pass under the railway line if you're in a motorhome. Bit of a trek to the station. Value. About the standard. £7 a night for hook up on hardstanding at £12 a night. Standard and facilities. Well stocked shop, although the usual mark up. Glass recycling only I believe. Metal and plastic went in the bin. Wasn't happy about that. Brown water disposal isn't very well laid out, you'd struggle to get a van over the top to drain it. Showers are 50p for 4 minutes. Not to my standard, I used my own. Toilet block is very dated with a hand dryer that eventually gets there. Cleanliness. Grounds maintained, roads could do with seeing to. It rained for the whole of my stay and there were so many pools that they ended up filling them to mitigate this. Toilet block, although dated, was clean. 3 fields to choose from, number 3 is no dogs. 2 is nearer the toilets and washing etc, and number 1 is where I pitched at the track side. Would I go back? Yes. But I'd need some kind of transport as it's a bit awkward for me otherwise. The owner (I assumed) was pleasant and her daughter who landed the shop. Shop open for two 2 hour sessions in the morning and afternoon.

This campsite was in a great location with easy access by foot to Corfe Castle and to the Swanage steam railway. The site itself was lovely and large, but the toilet and shower block was tired and you had to pay to use the showers which was disappointing. I didn't see anything to enable the shower floors to be cleaned after use which meant the floors were often left with soap and hair on. On the positive side there were plenty of portaloo type toilets which helped reduce the footfall into the shower blocks. Overall, a great campsite, with a great little shop and helpful staff, so would recommend.
Great campsite. We would definitely stay there again.

Really lovely site about 4.5 miles outside of Swanage. Lovely showers and clean facilities and a really well stocked campsite shop. We took mountain bikes and cycled the trails in and around the area. The main road is busy but fine for confident cyclists.

I've been camping at Woodyhyde Campsite for over 30 years. I came here first with my dad and it's our go to place when coming to Swanage. There are plenty of toilets and showers, we've never had to wait and the water is always hot. The shop has a huge variety of items and I'm sure if you've forgotten something, they stock it. I noticed this time they have pizzas on site on a Saturday night. We missed out on this opportunity but there's always next time.

Stayed 4 nights on electric tent pitch. I loved this site. Very peaceful and surrounded by farmland and meadows, yet very close to the village of Corfe Castle A quaint steam train runs past throughout the day. There were plenty of standpipes. Plenty of pot washing areas Plenty of showers (token is 50p for 4 mins). There were plenty of toilets too - only thing I didn't like was the taps - the water only ran when they were being pressed down and stopped the minute you let go. Very difficult to give your hands a good wash. One block of toilets had steep metal stairs to access and reminded me of portaloos on stilts. None of my business, but I don't think it was aesthetically pleasing for a site that was otherwise so pretty. Site is very nature-focussed (as it is surrounded by nature) and encourages kids to appreciate nature - dogs are not allowed in the wood (despite having a dog myself, I agree with that policy, as it would help them to encourage wildlife). There are other places to walk your dog (need to climb over stiles to access them).] Staff here are very helpful and friendly. The site shop is well equipped with all sorts of essentials including gas, ice packs, bottled water (if you don't want to use the standpipes), food, windbreaks and even doggy ice-cream! One quirk to be aware of is that the shop wasn't always open at the advertised times. It wasn't a big issue, just meant you might walk there for something only to find it closed. My dog has medication, and I'd only brought enough for my stay, otherwise I'd thought I might have asked to stay on for a few more days. Loved it here.

It's a lovely site - good location for the Isle of Purbeck and it was lovely and quiet this weekend - but facilities need some upgrading. There are blocks of temporary toilets which were not very clean - but it has been muddy so I understand it's difficult to keep it clean. The main shower block only has 2 toilets in which could be insufficient if site was busy - it was very quiet this weekend. The other main toilet block was closed. The charge of 50p for a shower is minimal, but seems a bit stingy when you are paying £30 a night, and inconvenient if you want a shower when the shop isn't open to get a token! I would go again because it's a lovely site, but hope improvements are made before busy season. We didn't meet any staff so can't comment fully on the service.

Lovely site, owners were great. Myself and the dogs had a great time. The shower/toilet block was lovely. It's really cold this time of year so didn't use the showers. Next to the train track, but they are steam trains and only run a few times a day, nothing too early or late. Definitely one to stay at again.
Happy days

Really enjoyed our stay, we visited nearing the end of the season. Was very peaceful - a perfect break for us. The staff were only to pleased to help. The shop was very plentiful for all the things you may need and for things you may have forgotten to bring. Having the steam railway was also a bonus as they passed by the campsite. Lots of waving to all the passengers and also to the drivers. If you like castles, then Corfe castle is a must. Also a trip on the steam railway from Corfe to Swanage was also a must. Overall, a lovely place to visit and would definitely revisit at some time as we journey on in our campervan.

We stayed on a very wet and windy 4 days, but had a lovely break. Firstly the shop is run by very friendly, cheerful, helpful people and stocks lots of very useful camping bits and pieces as well as the usual food, toiletries and some toys. There are lots of toilets and showers which were never very dirty, but also on other hand, I never saw them completely spotless. Some showers don't give a really strong jet for washing hair, but they were warm and need a token (50p) available at the shop. (20p coin for hair dryers). We were allowed to pitch where we liked, but the lady in the shop gave helpful advice based on the weather report. There is also a no dogs field, which is nice for if it was busier. Grass is well kept and the site is large and very tidy. Great local pubs, cafes and takeaways. There are walks from the site to local villages, signposted from the site. The trains on the Swanage to Corfe Castle railway pass the site so be prepared to wave madly around every few hours.

Great site. We stayed on a weekend and loved it. You can pitch where you fancy. Clean toilets and plenty of them. Nice and quiet. Well stocked shop on site. The railway line runs along the the border of the site and it's lovely to see and hear the old steam trains going past. Corfe Castle is only a 40 min walk from the site across the common. Would definitely go back!

It’s great, peaceful, scenic, generous pitches. Lots of taps so never too far to go. One of the shower blocks is pretty dated and the cubicles small.

A great campsite location for visiting the surrounding areas of Swanage and Dorset. Spacious pitches and 3 fields to choose from. Dogs are welcome in 2 of the fields. We stayed in field 2 (a medium tent, a campervan, 4 adults, 1 toddler and a dog). We were lucky we chose this field, as the toilets/showers are all located here, which may have been a struggle if we were further away in one of the other fields for my mum who has mobility issues. Saying that, there were plenty of loos and showers (2 shower blocks and "festival" style loos) so we never had to queue which was a bonus. The white shower block did seem to have hotter water than the brown block…all were very dated and could do with a lick of white paint (currently brown 🤢) but kept relatively clean. Both blocks also have washing up stations on the outside with plenty of hot water. They don't, however, have a canopy overhead, which makes it tricky to wash up when it's pouring down with rain, but only a small gripe. There's a small shop selling all you'd need, bread, milk, drinks/snacks, toys and camping gear. The first night of our stay was extremely noisy until around midnight, not great for our toddlers first camping experience! There was a large group of campers shouting and playing music with not a care who they were upsetting. Somebody approached them (not sure who!) and from then on, noise was kept to a minimum from around 10:30/11pm for the rest of our stay. The steam train that goes by is an added bonus for adults and kids alike, if you want to take a ride you can walk to the nearest station of Harman's Cross through field 1 and takes about 15mins or you can drive (approx. 5mins) and park for £1. Swanage is only 2 stops away and cost £9 return and worth it. Overall we had a great stay here and would stay here again!

It is a very busy site, I felt that some tents were pitched too closely together for safety. The cleaning staff did a very good job but more was needed. With so many children on site the toilets/showers could have done with mopping mid morning and toilet rolls replenished. It's a good site for convenience and fine if you like cold showers!!

Lovely site! 11pm no noise policy which we found everyone stuck to. Lovely for kids to run around and be free. Toilets and showers not the best and could do with more cleaning, and maybe a family room, as we had a young child and not much room to get changed. Overall, we had a lovely time and was in a great location

Very good shop, well stocked and very reasonably priced. I agree pitches were very close together and noise could be a problem especially music and after 11pm. Plenty of toilets and showers which were regularly replenished. Showers were hot depending on time of day. Would recommend for helpful staff, good pitches, although being marked out would be helpful and great location.
