Brilliant campsite, very clean, only downfall was the very narrow roads to get to the campsite. But nothing the campsite can do about that. Really enjoyed our stay and a beautiful view.
Perfect!

I'm really glad that I selected this campsite at Mattiscombe as the final one on our journey with the kids to England in 2023. Besides the superb setting, we appreciated the lovely view of the sea, the peace and quiet, the clean toilets and especially the hot shower. We had a great time at the seaside at nearby Torcross, after which we realised that two nights were not enough, so we stayed for one night longer to spend the day near East Prawle. The journey to the ferry was much longer as a result, but well worth it.

A beautiful spot for a quiet few days, camping in South Devon - perfectly located for the best that South Hams has to offer. The farm facilities are basic but adequate, just as my 'scouting-mad' kids requested. The firepit and log service made the evenings, stargazing over the coastline, that little bit more magical. The host was extremely helpful and friendly. There was a mix of small tents, hard-core campers and camper vans but the site was peaceful by 9pm.

Back to basics camping. Exactly what it says on the tin. Not for us, but maybe as we don't know the area. The views for us were a little disappointing, as couldn't see the sea, with hedges, but we arrived late and with bad weather so probably influenced! Toilet ok, showers good. Lovely, peaceful and quiet, if you have everything you need in your set up.
Beautiful, quiet, simplistic campsite

Cannot recommend this campsite enough - perfect for backpackers/groups of friends/families and people on a budget - incredible value for money- tough to find somewhere cheaper to camp. Clean compost toilet - very eco, simplistic and rural - I came here with my cousins and we had a wonderful time - 20-30 mins walk from beautiful beaches with great swimming opportunities. Thanks so much!

We had a lovely stay at Mattiscombe Farm Camping! The signage at the entrance of the campsite could do with being more obvious/redoing as we could not see the 'summerpark' and 'waypark' signs from the car, it was only when we went for a walk the next day that we noticed them. Upon arrival, we also didn't see the small sign telling you what to do when you got there, but we picked a pitch and gave Ben a call to let him know we'd arrived (which is actually what we were supposed to do anyway!). Pitches are a great size so you don't feel at all on top of the person next to you. I was a little surprised that the grass was so long and obviously hadn't been cut in a while which meant that our feet kept getting quite wet walking to and from the facilities in the morning, evening and after it had rained. Compostable toilets were a new one for us, but are seemingly well maintained and self explanatory. Showers were lovely and hot, just what we needed to rinse off after some time in the sea. The site could do with a hot water tap to wash pots and pans, but we made do with the facilities available. Overall, the facilities were clean and covered all the essentials. The campsite is quite exposed so a windbreak is definitely a must to shelter you from the wind, although we were definitely quite unlucky with the weather! This does mean, however, that there are gorgeous views over Start Bay for those in the pitches at the top of the field. You can walk to the coast from the site, it took us about 20/30 minutes to walk to Beesands and then another 15 minutes to walk around to Slapton. But this is a lovely walk through the countryside and along coastal paths, so we loved it. I would absolutely recommend the 30 min drive to Salcombe from here, we had a lovely afternoon on the South Sands beach and meal in the town centre. Kingsbridge which is a 15 minute drive from the site is also handy if you need any bits and pieces as there's a Morrisons there. It's also a lovely little town to explore! Overall, we had a great time at this campsite and would definitely recommend to those looking for a more 'back to basics' camping trip! There are some lovely cows on the farm too (and some visiting goats while we were there) which are just behind the facilities!

An ideal spot for exploring the surrounding area. It was super easy to find with Sat nav, flexible and stress free arrival - plenty of space between pitches was an added bonus. Facilities were clean and shower was surprisingly great for a self proclaimed "back to basics" site. Ben was great at communicating with us and recommended a range of walks for us to try out. Relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Would recommend for simple, spacious and laid back camping spot…with lovely views to boot. (Great pub very close by)

We had a lovely week stay at Mattiscombe Farm. The field is large and we could chose our own pitch. The view from the top of the field is gorgeous, but we pitched in a corner away from other campers. The facilities were more than we expected, especially the showers. They were so nice!! We had a great time exploring the local area. Would recommend the walk from the campsite to Torcross and another one to the local pub, which we visited a few times. Also we loved start point lighthouse and Kingsbridge for some shopping. Would definitely visit again.
A very well maintained site, would book again

Nice simple campsite, great view over start bay. A hilly site and nice walks nearby. Great for driving access, near to drive to start point and the lovely beaches. Nice hosts, friendly and helpful. Great showers and nice compost toilets, some were grim on other sites, these were pretty good.
