About Thornfield Camping Cabins

On the outskirts of the Lake District, nestled between Carlisle and Caldbeck, this site is the result of a passion to create an outdoor haven for guests. A warm welcome allows glampers to feel that they are amongst friends here. This peaceful glamping getaway has a range of cosy, high quality and affordable pods. All are self catered and equipped with home comforts including underfloor heating, a kitchen with fridge, microwave, kettle, and toaster. Crockery and cutlery are also provided, as are a portable hob and pans on request. Onsite you'll find a total of six luxury ensuite pods and a pod with a bathroom a short walk away. Ideal for a couples getaway or family break. There are four family sized pods each with the option to add a hot tub, sleeping two adults and up to three children. Two of which are dog friendly (Fox and Badger) and two are not (Pheasant and Owl). All four are equipped with a bathroom including a separate shower, toilet and sink. You'll also find a fully made up bed and a large double sofa bed. The site is also home to three standard pods, sleeping two adults. Inside Deer and Squirrel you'll find a compact ensuite with shower, toilet and sink, a fully made up bed, there is also the option the option to add a hot tub. Finally, the third standard pod, Stable, is tucked away next to the facilities and near the car park area. Please note, there is no open view and bedding is not included in the price of booking. However, it can be added on as an extra. There is also an option to add a hot tub to stays two nights or more. Free car parking during your stay (one vehicle per pod). Additional vehicles by arrangement only and chargeable. Well behaved dogs are welcome but must be kept off the furniture and on a lead! Please bring a rug or blanket if necessary for your dog.

Ensuite pods are available all year round. The Stable camping pod is available between Easter and September.

Facilities and amenities

Pod facilities include an en suite toilet and shower. The Stable has a toilet and shower a short walk away. WiFi is available. Therapeutic jet spa hot tubs are available with all pods on the main site. Laundry with additional fridge and freezer space available in utility room named "Meg's room".

The Woodside Welcome cycle cafe next door to the site provides home-cooked breakfasts delivered to your door. During the summer, the site provides outdoor games such as a football goal, trampoline and swing ball.

The site is also just a mile away from the Bridge End Inn and is easily walkable from a footpath starting opposite the site. A regular bus service runs to Bridge End and Dalston is just two miles away.
