Overwater Woodlands is an off-grid dog friendly campsite nestled away in the northern region of the Lake District National Park. Focused on sustainability with only five woodland tent pitches it is a great spot to be at one with nature. This back to basics site has no WiFi or phone signal, connecting instead over the communal firepit, sharing stories with fellow campers and toasting marshmallows. A homemade breakfast is included with your stay.

About Overwater Woodlands
If you want a break from the digital world then this is the place for you, hidden in the woodlands of the Lake District National Park with spectacular views of Skiddaw. Surrounded by stunning natural walks and with no signal onsite, this is an idea spot for those looking to switch off. There are just five tent pitches in the woodlands, four pitches that are 3m x 3m each allowing two guests, and one 3m x 3m pitch that allows four guests. Ensuring a genuinely peaceful stay and an opportunity to get to know fellow campers. The hosts Nick and Lois are waiting to welcome you to their off-grid haven. As experienced chefs, Nick and Lois are happy to provide locally sourced meals, with breakfast and hot drinks included in your stay. There is a communal fire pit at the centre of the camp where all guests are welcome to sit around for an evening, share stories and toast marshmallows by the fire. Raised BBQs are allowed. Guests can enjoy evenings of stargazing due to the site's remote location providing wonderful dark night skies. The water is also sourced from the site's own private springs! Well-trained dogs are allowed but please be aware that the site is neighbouring farm animals so dogs must be supervised.

Site rules and policies
Cars are only to be parked in the designated area, not to be by the pitches.
Dogs need to be on a lead and supervised at all times.
The site does not allow breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act.
Smoking is not permitted in the public areas of the campsite.
It is one tent per pitch.
Things to do on site and in the Wigton area
In the centre of the site, there is a communal fire pit which can be a very social area, with campers sitting around having their evening meals, toasting marshmallows and getting to know one another. The ethos of the site is to allow guests to escape and unwind from digital stresses so campers are encouraged to pick up a book or try out a new hobby!
The Lake District National Park is a walker's paradise, host to countless trails for all abilities with spectacular countryside views it cannot be missed. The hosts are experts in the area so can suggest the best walks for you, even spots for wild swimming!
Being in the middle of the woodlands the site is a great place for wildlife spotting. It is common to see red squirrels, deer and birds which can be fascinating! There is also a feeding station for squirrels and birds.
For the thrill seekers there is Ghyll scramble and rock climbing nearby, or for those who truly want to unwind, there are nearby spas and a distillery.
You can also explore the Wigton area further by hiring a boat, or delve into some history by visiting the Pencil Museum just a 20 minute drive away.
