Jacksmere Camping

Say hello to the chickens and ponies at Jacksmere Camping, a friendly and peaceful site welcoming tent campers on a range of flat and well maintained grass pitches. Set just a ten minute drive to the seaside at Southport, the focus is on a back-to-basics camping experience with access to numerous local footpaths, and dog friendly. A family pool is a big hit with kids on site and there's also a straw bale play area for little ones.

About Jacksmere Camping

Nestled in a quiet Lancashire setting, this family friendly farm has a number of grass pitches catering to tents, with easy access to public footpaths for gentle ambles or long treks. The farm is home to ponies and chickens, and dogs are welcome too provided they are kept on a lead. The basic facilities also help make for a traditional camping break. Guests are welcome to bring a BBQ for alfresco dining and campfire sessions.

The site is open for May bank holiday weekend and for weekends between July and September.

Facilities and amenities

Facilities here include free toilets and showers, plus a washing up area. There is a fenced dog exercise area over the road, available to use for a small charge. Fishing is located across the road with Southport Dist Anglers.

The Old Duke pub and Nellie the Indian restaurant are only a five min drive from site. Southport town centre is just a ten minute drive away, a popular seaside spot, and Formby is 20 minutes away. A 20 minute walk will take you to two restaurants as well as a farm shop selling organic produce. Takeaways can also be delivered to the farm gate, including The Curry Hut nearby. A Tesco is also a five minute drive away.

Yes, it might be tricky to find the place but once you are there, the host is lovely, bubbly and warm. You have the ponies that the kids are allowed to feed, a bouncy castle and if you're lucky, the kids get to go on the quad bike. The amenities were clean but could probably benefit from an additional shower. What an amazing weekend for us, will definitely visit again.
