About Barn Farm Campsite

Set a handy 15 minutes from Bakewell and 20 minutes from Matlock, this scenic farm borders Stanton Moor and is in easy reach of the River Lathkill. The views are worth travelling for, with visits from deer and badgers, plus the popular Limestone Way walking path passes nearby too, ideal for keen hikers. A dedicated camping area is available just for tents - with one field open throughout the season and other fields used at certain times. All of the grass pitches allow up to six guests in tents, with plenty of space for everyone to enjoy the outdoors. There are also a set of 25 pitches that are exclusively for families with the adventure park nearby, while other pitches are open to all. Level electric grass pitches are also available for caravans, motorhomes, trailer tents and campervans, with waterpoints nearby. If you're bringing the tourer, you'll be treated to electric hardstanding pitches and space for an awning. Pitches can require levelling blocks, and all have great country views with up to four guests allowed. If you're travelling with a group, a spot in the camping barns will suit you perfectly. These can sleep up to 15 people and include a cooking area, cosy bunk beds, toasty heating and access to the shared facilities. For a touch of extra luxury, there are also two well equipped self-catering barns. For guests staying on bank holidays and some weekends, you'll be able to join in with family fun activities including fire work nights, pop up food vans and bars and local bands! There are even resident alpacas and peacocks to meet, a hit with the little ones. Dogs are also welcome to join you for your stay, with up to two allowed per pitch. Guests can also bring along the BBQ, just please ensure it is raised off the ground. Campfires are not permitted.

The family field is open from May until the end of September and the electric grass pitches are open from May until the end of August. Other areas are open from Easter until the end of October.

Single Axle Caravan - Electric Hardstanding PitchesOct 2024

Lovely weekend at Barn Farm. It was pretty, there were lots of walk and a great friendly site. Make sure you take some levelling blocks, some of the pitches are quite sloped, but other than it was wonderful.

Cracking site, well run and great for walks

VW-Type Campervan - Electric Hardstanding PitchesOct 2024

We were in the low season, so there was plenty of space and it was very quiet, excellent! 2 great pubs in the village, with public footpaths cutting through the site, it was so easy to jump onto all kinds of routes. Very helpful staff, they also have peacocks and albino peahens!

Up to two dogs per pitch are welcome here, provided they are kept on a lead whilst onsite and are not a breed/crossbreed listed under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991.

Being in the centre of the Peak District, the site is a haven for keen walkers/cyclists with the closest route being the Limestone Way running nearby the site. History lovers can enjoy an amble along the Nine Ladies Stone Circle, just under two miles away, or venture to Stanton Moor (0.8 miles) nestling between the villages of Bakewell and Matlock. Stroll by the River Lathkill and you'll find the tranquil scenery on offer at the Lathkill Dale. Further afield, spend the day climbing Robin Hood's Stride or the Cratcliffe Rocks for spectacular views. Or take the little ones to Gullivers Kingdom (8.9 miles) at Matlock Bath, complete with thrilling rollercoaster rides, log flume, barrel rides and much more. The Heights of Abraham (9.3 miles) are also well worth a visit to explore the caverns and youngsters can enjoy a runaround in the adventure playgrounds here too. Chatsworth House (8.1 miles) is within easy driving distance from the campsite. Wander through the beautiful gardens and find your idyllic picnic spot before admiring the magnificent interiors (the painted hall is a particular highlight!) or saying hello to the animals in the farmyard.

A gazebo may be brought for a small extra fee, an awning may be brought free of charge. Pup tents are not allowed.

Walkers will love The Limestone Way which meanders close by, but there is also a choice of 4 excellent footpaths for exploring. Stanton Moor is well worth a roam and the Nine Ladies stone circle is an ancient spot to uncover.

Lathkill Dale is also ideal for walking and there are popular local climbing areas at Robin Hood's Stride and the Catcliffe Rocks.

Kids will have a whale of a time at Gullivers Kingdom in Matlock Bath and the Heights of Abraham has superb views for anyone with a head for heights. Finish off the perfect day out with an amble through the elegant interior and gorgeous gardens at Chatsworth House.
