About Middle Ruckham Campsite

The peaceful and secluded site is ideally located between the National Parks of Dartmoor and Exmoor, a great base for getting your feet in Devon. The market town of Tiverton is only a ten minute drive away. With no allocated pitches, visitors are welcome to choose their spot in the meadow to set up camp, and there are fire pits or dishes with free firewood available. A maximum of four tents are allowed to be pitched, each taking up to four people. For those who don't fancy bringing their own tent, opt for the bell tent with futon beds, rugs, basic cooking facilities and room for up to four people. There's also the touring caravan for three people which has a double bed and seating area that pulls out into a bed for a child. This working organic farm is managed for its biodiversity. Perfect for families and visitors who prefer more of a wild camping experience, this is as about as far as you can get from an organised camping park. Small groups are welcome and the site is available for camps and retreats, and the site is easily accessible via public transport too. Bees are housed on site, and cows, ponies and sheep roam the other fields. Campers can enjoy fresh milk and produce from the farm in the mornings. Only an hour's drive from the stunning North Devon beaches for those wanting a day at the seaside, including Exmouth, Woolacombe and Combe Martin.

Open from 1 May to 16 October

A note from the site themselves...

We discovered Middle Ruckham in 2000 and managed to secure a loan to purchase the land in 2006. Having spent our working lives in the countryside, we feel incredibly lucky to have had the opportunity to establish a family holding on land that has been a farm since doomsday times and is one of only a few left that has escaped post-war agricultural intensification.

It is now recognised as a County Wildlife Site and certified Organic with the Soil Association. Orchards and a vegetable production area have been added to provide produce for the family and visitors alike and they are happy to share this wonderful place with those that appreciate nature, fresh air, tranquillity and bird song.
