About the site
Switch off and unwind, surrounded by scenic Sussex countryside. The site is well located for exploring, with National Trust - Standen House and Garden a five minute walk away, along with Wakehurst, East Grinstead and Forest Row within a 15 minute drive.
The site is made up of four fields of wildflower hay meadow surrounded by private woodland. The camping takes place mainly on the top fields, leaving the rest for people to explore. The Lower Fields are for quiet camping, with music allowed (until 11pm) in the Upper Field.
There is space for up to 20 tent pitches and five campervan pitches. All of the pitches are unmarked (so you can pitch up with family), allowing up to eight guests per tent and five guests per campervan.
If you want to leave the tent pegs at home, opt for an unfurnished 4m bell tent. Sleeping up to four, each tent has room for all of your usual camp gear , beds and bedding, or you can hire it from the site when you book.
You can buy seasoned firewood, kindling firelighters and even marshmallows at the Centre Camp shop. If you wish to make a fire, there are a few to hire from the site or you can bring your own with you (just make sure not to burn the grass).
Up to two friendly dogs are welcome per pitch and in the bell tents.
There's good 4G coverage throughout the site, however, it is also a great spot to go off-grid and relax!
Sunnyside is open from 23rd May to 1st June, for weekends from June 20th to 17th August 31st and then from 27th 31st August.
Site facilities include four composting toilets and a shower as well as a sauna and communal campfire, where you can meet your fellow campers.
There is a shop onsite selling firewood, tea, coffee, sweets and camping essentials. The site also sells Finnish woolly socks which make for a great gift. The Old Dunnings Mill which is under a 15 minute walk away, offers locally sourced meals and a wide variety of drinks.
A note from the site themselves...
We very much believe in our Skandi Spirit. Finland has been named many times the happiest country in the world. Our happiness comes from many things, but if you ask us, or we believe many other Finns too, one of the biggest reasons is our ability to integrate nature connection into our lives.
In Scandinavia nature isn't just around us, it's within us and being outdoorsy isn't just a trait, it's a way of life. Appreciation for nature is deeply ingrained in Scandi lives and many natives see being outdoors as the best way to relax.
Sunnyside offers a connection with nature and of course a traditional Finnish Sauna,

We stayed here in our campervan, with family also staying in a tent, and as other reviewers have said, Heath and Katja made us very welcome, helping us to find the best possible pitch for our van (which also happened to have a fantastic view out over the trees and fields dropping away in front of us).
We were lucky enough to stay on a weekend with lovely weather, and we made the most of the outdoor activities (an afternoon barbecue with music, and burgers to die for!), and we also managed to pay a visit to the neighbouring National Trust property and visited the cows in a neighbouring field.
We're looking forward to returning again soon.

We headed to Sunnyside with our daughter for her first proper camping experience and had a wonderful couple of nights at Sunnyside.
The fields are so peaceful and have a large amount of room to pick your spot and set up. We enjoyed the fire pits and marshmallows over the fire.
The walk to the village and pub is a lovely one and not far to wander across the fields. Kat and Heath were so welcoming and helpful and all facilities we clean tidy and the sauna was a huge bonus to have onsite.
We are looking forward to getting back to Sunnyside for another trip this summer!

Serene escape in a cosy bell tent: a perfect getaway at Sunnyside Pop Up Camping.
In August, I stayed at Sunnyside Pop Up Camping and opted for one of their bell tents, and I have to say, it was the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Nestled in the beautiful Sussex countryside, the site feels like a true hidden gem. The bell tent itself was incredibly cosy and spacious.
The campsite has such a relaxing vibe, with a real focus on sustainability and nature. It was amazing to be surrounded by lush greenery and wildlife. One of the highlights of my stay was the wood-heated sauna - a real treat after a day of outdoor adventures. I also loved the community feel of the site, with campfire evenings where guests can gather and share stories.
If you're looking for a relaxing, nature-filled camping experience. I would absolutely recommend staying at Sunnyside. It's a fantastic spot for a quiet family getaway or a peaceful break with friends. I have already booked to come back!
