Fantastic stay! Highly recommended

We just returned from a long weekend at Big Sky Hideaway Camping and Glamping and what a fantastic weekend it was! Dave and Emms have created a wonderful space over their many acres. There are lots of options for camping (we quite fancy the school bus next time!), we opted for a Bell Tent for our stay. We are not experienced campers - so this offers the perfect balance for us. Our tent was spacious and clean, and fitted a double & 2 single mattresses for our family stay. We were set in the meadow, and thanks to the lovely long grasses & wildflowers, had complete privacy, and could convince ourselves we were alone in the wilderness! Despite this being their busiest weekend ever, the site was lovely and quiet at night-time, which was hugely appreciated. In terms of facilities, Dave & Emms have stayed true to their Eco-friendly cause. The drop toilets were clean (so much better than portaloos!) and the shower was an experience! There was also a sink in the meadow for drinking water and washing dishes. Over by the barn, there was a football goal - I think our boys spent most of their time playing football with other families (with Dave making the odd cameo appearance!). This is a nice social space with picnic tables as well as the barn. The barn, which has morning and evening opening hours (coffee shop, shop and bar in the evening!), was a brilliant addition. The kids enjoyed the table tennis (and have vowed to beat Dave next time), and again it was a nice social space. On a rainy Saturday, they also opened it up and put a movie on for the kids which was a nice touch! One of our favourite moments was our experience with the Alpacas - dont miss out on this. They are adorable and some lovely memories made. Overall we had a blast and really highly recommend a stay at Big Sky Hideaway. Dave and Emms are wonderful hosts - on hand to help, super organised in terms of supplying firewood etc, but it's up to you to make the most of the experience. Thank you!

Great camp site

Just went for a single night with my young son for his first night of camping. The camp site is lovely. Great place for both children and adults. My boy particularly loved the Alpacas. The owners are fantastic and very accommodating. We will definitely be going back.

Amazing, magical place to runaway from busy lives

Absolutely stunning, quiet and peaceful place. Definitely worth to go and feed alpacas, they are super friendly and soft! Great experience! Being there 3 nights gave us time to relax from social interaction and busy lives. Owners are very friendly and helpful. On the day we were leaving booked another stay with them, that says it all. TheYesBus I would recommend, very clean and lovely place. Don't need to be scared to stay without network data for a few days, it's so worth it. Time slows down when you are there, like a magical place. This is now our favourite place and we will be going back to escape reality there. Thank you very much!

A hidden treasure!

I planned a bike packing trip around wanting to stay at this site and it did not disappoint. If you are looking for a peaceful stay away from everyday world, then this is the place to be. The site is clean, tranquil and maintained in a way that doesn't detract from the feeling of camping in a wild meadow. The communal barn is beautifully decorated and the hosts are very friendly and welcoming. The whole site is a built around the ethos of positivity and good vibes. I spent my evening watching and listening to the abundance of wildlife around my tent and enjoyed a morning coffee sat by the alpaca paddock. My only regret from my stay is that I wish I had booked a second night. I loved staying here and will definitely be returning again with my family.

The best first family camping trip

This was our first camping trip as a family and I couldn't be more pleased that it was at The Big Sky Hideaway. Instructions for finding the location were shared with us shortly after booking, which was super helpful so that we could plan our day/ routes. The instructions were also incredibly clear and the comms shared with us on the day were also great. There are a variety of handy bits available at the shop if, like us, you forgot something last minute. The location: absolutely perfect. Nicely tucked away, the layout is very well thought out and the grounds are clearly well looked after. We love that sustainability and caring for the environment are a huge part of being on this site. The facilities: for a couple who usually travel and stay in hotels - we had absolutely no issues with the facilities, in fact we'd rate this so far above a number of hotels we've stayed in! There is literally everything you need on this gem of a patch! We loved the barn - huge, huge shout out to Em for the incredible pizza! Our son loved walking around and watching the alpacas too. The staff/ management: from the second we arrived we felt so welcome, a huge thank you to Dave and Em for being the best hosts. Nothing was too much to ask and it was great to be around such a friendly group of people. We're just sorry you didn't get your fist bump - next time! I would 100% recommend to anyone and everyone. We will be coming back, it is possible to camp with a little one in tow (our son is 1 and loved it!) and have a great time. Thanks to you both for a great first camping experience!

Little slice of heaven!

We just camped for 5 days at Big Sky Hideaway and we had an awesome time! This is such a special place, unlike any other campsite you'll stay at. The owners Dave and Ems are amazing people who greet you personally on arrival and genuinely want to make your stay magical. They are kind, welcoming, chilled out people who can't do enough for you and really send out positive vibes, so much so our group have a new affirmation; "be more Dave". We strongly recommend pizza night in the barn (delicious pizza for a very reasonable price) and alpaca feeding (such gentle creatures!). We will definitely be back. Book now, you won't regret it!

Gorgeously peaceful retreat in nature

An oasis full of birds and butterflies! Dave and Em have done so well to create a peaceful retreat with nature right on your doorstep. LOVE the very friendly alpacas, the communal area where we had a drink and camp fire with other campers/glampers, and the little woodland trail with really comfy hammocks where we chilled for a while in the shade. Would definitely recommend this place and go back to try out some of the cool glamping accommodation. They make you feel right at home and part of the family!

The great outdoors at its best

As a family of 4 with our two girls age 4 & 8 we are at our most content and happiest in the great outdoors, we absolutely love to have time away which truly gives us the chance to have quality time together and appreciate very much anywhere that has an eco considerate approach with unique style. We arrived at Big Sky and instantly felt relaxed and just so in awe of this beautiful surrounding & its unique variety of accommodation. We had even already booked for next year without even visiting Big Sky yet because when you get a feeling somewhere is amazing, you go for it. Dave & Em have created an absolute haven for taking time out, switching off and they have dedicated time and passion into this incredibly planet friendly space and have made simplistic living feel luxury. We had our tent pitched in the beautiful meadow where the plant life grows around you which is another beautiful aspect demonstrating how unique this stay is. There is a perfect blend of opportunity to have fun and games both outdoors and in the barn, plus fabulous home made pizza nights, and to see the fabulous alpacas which was such a great privilege. Big Sky has such variety to suit any budget and yet even luxury is affordable. Dave & Em have the essentials, including incredible fresh eggs and other provisions to achieve convenience for all. We are beyond thankful for Dave & Em because they are making an incredibly positive people and planet friendly impact which is so life enriching, it really is what dreams are made of.
