About Clachtoll Beach Campsite

This level site is roughly five miles north of Lochinver, set across 2.5 acres with spacious grass pitches and looking across the sea to Lewis, Harris and Skye. It's only 100 metres from the beach, enjoying a remote location that becomes a sun trap on long summer days. A quiet and family run site, it's in the perfect location for walking, fishing, snorkelling, water sports and spending time on the beach. The site is also situated on the whale and dolphin trail, with regular viewings of an array of sea life and birds from the beach. Tents and tourers are all welcome and guests have the choice of back to basic pitches without electric, or choosing a serviced pitch which includes both water and electric to the pitch. You can also select a premium pitch, allowing you uninterrupted sea views. Dogs are very welcome on site, provided they are kept on a lead at all times. There are dog treats and drinking bowls at the Doggy Bar for them to enjoy too.

Facilities and amenities

Site facilities include toilets, showers and disabled and family bathrooms. The ladies toilets include extras like a hair dryer and curling tongs.

Outside, there are both hot and cold showers to wash off sand, as well as free use of kayaks, canoes, paddle boards, wetsuits, buoyancy aids, games and a nightly firepit.

There is also a dishwashing area, token operated laundry machines, freezers, an undercover BBQ area and a kitchen area with a kettle, toaster and microwave. Dog treats and water bowls can be provided, plus there is a small shop by the entrance to the site which sells homemade cakes and snacks, as well as camping essentials.

Shops, cafes and more can all be found in the nearby village of Lochinver.

The site is a great base to explore the north, south and east of Scotland, as well as being close to the village of Lochinver.

Beach lovers will thrive here, with free access to kayaks, canoes, paddle boards and wetsuits to enjoy. You'll also be located on one of Scottish Wildlife Trust's top snorkel trails, famed for the clearness of the water. Porpoise, dolphin, minke whale, otters and eagles are regularly spotted from the beach too.

Hill walking is very popular in these parts, with Assynt providing excellent Munros, climbs and ridge walks for you to sink your teeth into.

For a woodland stroll, Culag Woods is perfect and it even has a sculpture trail and a play area to suit families.

Keen fishers will also love this base, as there are many lochs and stretches of water ideal for catching trout, haddock, cod and more.
