About Longthorns Farm

There are 47 acres at Longthorns Farm, used to produce hay and haylage. As well as being a lovely camping spot, the farm is becoming increasingly well known for its alpacas too. There are quite a number of them now - with some award winners amongst them. Longthorns Farm has a long history of farming and camping and has more recently also been hired for the private use of weddings and events, fabulous for a Wedding Weekender with The Parlour and marquee and all Longthorns has to offer As well as camping and touring pitches (with optional electric), the site also offers a range of glamping accommodation, from TippeCo tipis to shepherd's huts and eco-pods. Visitors enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the site, along with the glamping aspect.

The site is open from March to December.

Small Tent - Electric Grass PitchesNov 2024

Nice site and nice location. Sometimes a little bit noisy overnight due to the nearby army base. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Motorhome - Electric Grass PitchesNov 2024

Lovely campsite and friendly team. Good facilities. Autumn break so it was quiet and therefore easy to access all facilities in a timely manner. Easy access to all major walking/sightseeing spots such as Durdle door, Lulworth Cove and other less well known areas. Lots of eateries and little villages around. Seamless booking arrangements. Sweet alpacas on site and adjacent to Monkey World if you wish to take a trip. Cons: lots of sound from the firing ranges which in itself is fine, but if you have a nervous dog, I would think again. We enjoyed our trip. Thanks.

Great place!

If camping/touring, check-in is from noon-8pm and between 2pm-8pm for electric pitches - check-in for glamping is from 4pm-8pm. You must vacate your camping or touring pitch by noon or, if glamping, before 10am on day of departure.

You're welcome to bring up to three dogs per camping stay or, if glamping, one pooch, provided they are kept on a lead whilst onsite and well-supervised.

BBQs are welcome, provided they are kept raised above the ground, and fire pits are also available to hire (you're welcome to bring your own if preferred) - wood is sold onsite. Open campfires are not permitted.

Awnings, gazebos and pup tents are allowed on site for a small charge.

The site's farm has alpacas as well as other animals. Alpacas are well known for being alert and are commonly used to protect chickens from foxes. The farm breeds them and there are often lots of lovely little fluffy babies! Alpaca walking is available on the farm. This is pre-booked only.

The site also now offer a meet and greet for guests either too young or unable to go on the woodland!
